Wow! Which device and what was the root cause?

@atomicbob - I'm pretty sure the negative regulator decided to take a shit. The unregulated power is fine and I resoldered it a couple times to make sure there was no short. I am going to assume my ESD precautions are less then stellar.

Im going to switch to an external supply to make sure it's not the regulator.

Oh! Forgot to mention the device. I'm building a Dynalo Super Symmetry mini. It uses an SMPS followed by ultralow noise regulators.

If it's balanced the DC offset is okay right? Or just slap on a capacitor on the output and call it a day.

I'd measure the output with a DMM and see if there is an offset. Might want to monitor it over time. If no offset then probably safe to go without a cap, though a capacitor does provide a bit of insurance.

Well i was kinda joking but nice to know it would work! The DC offset is unbalanced anyway. Right channel is 9V and left channel is 4V.

@atomicbob - I found out what caused the problem. CCS LEDs were installed backwards because I have the one set of LEDs where the green stripe is the anode instead of the cathode. This caused the bias current to run way too high and fried the negative regulator. I need to get it swapped. QFN chips suck.
