Palpatine's dream of law and order come true! Or maybe a benevolent version of Palpatine, who hired better quality generals and civil servants and paid them well.

In case people haven't figured it out yet, this forum is run a lot like Singapore.

 

1. Corporal Punishment - Public humiliation to discourage certain behaviors such as vandalism or extreme tube rolling (same difference).
2. Death Penalty - Permabans. Sends a message to get rid of drug dealers or trolls.
3. Eschewing of Populism / Egalitarism - Meritocracy where respect is earned instead of pandering to the lowest common denominator in an attempt to maximize sessions per month.
4. Common Language - Establishment of commonly shared terminology to describe sound and standards to measure gear.
5. Curtailing of Civil Liberties - To keep the peace and maintain a somewhat consistent ideology. Feel free to call it biased or groupthink. But I'd rather have biased / groupthink vs. Galactic Senate / Old Republic fuckery. It's already hard enough to get so many people with disparate views on audio to agree to disagree, which I think we do a decent job of here.

 

I'd say Jude is like Palpatine, except Palpatine seems rather thick-skinned. Jude is super sensitive - it's very easy to push his buttons. I hear stories about how we set him off all the time. I generally don't push Jude's buttons without reason. Every action I take against him is a measured response in retaliation for something he does against us. I'm still not done with him getting Jeff fired at HiFiMan.

Jude is the most dangerous man in this hobby. He is why many of us are paying more and more money for sound quality that isn't getting much better, and in many cases, going backwards. Just look at iRiver, I mean A&K, or the newer JH stuff. It's all pure fuckery. Or nonsense like "Audeze has great customer service" (How many years have people been saying that now?) When was the last time we heard: "Oh, Sennheiser has great customer service"?

 

I try not to think about it because it makes me so mad. Ravi will entertain you guys in bit. He can explain it better than me. The fact that Massdrop has been doing a better job than Jude in getting us value for our dollar is sad.

 

I'd like to nominate this post for understatement of the year.

The way he puts it, you'd think Marv has nothing better to do with his life than attempt to sabotage Head-Fi.
