Nibbling on snacks in public is just bloody disgusting. Damnit... soon you'll be wanting to wear headphones on the metro!

The veneer of civilisation is thin. Please, I beg you, do not scratch it!

Always a danger of that with benevolent dictatorships. But I think there are enough good people around to prevent us from becoming a failed state, e.g. Zimbabwe, Syria, etc. Singapore is a lot different from those countries.

Singapore is very much different from other military dictatorship. It takes the best ideas from each idealogy(socialism, dictatorship, communism, confucianism, capitalism, commonwealth, monarchy, democracy) and blend it into what works best.

IMHO, Singapore today in 2016 is quite different from that 1990's Disneyland with death penalty article. The population has become highly educated and influenced by knowledge, ideas and opinions found internationally and through the internet. The society has a lot more representation(women welfare and animal right activist) more voices in policy planning, many laws has been enacted(or relaxed) in recent times to protect the rights of individuals and groups of people(e.g. Consumer rights, Animal rights and even privacy and data protection).

Although we are still pretty much a conservative Asian society where recreation drug consumption, porn and (open)homosexuality is illegal under the law.(one of the main reason is because we are surrounded physically by Muslim based Neighbour countries and we have no intention of giving them a valid reason to be angry/irate with us for doing/condoning something outright offensive to their religion)

We still maintain some form of democracy in the form of election/party voting every 4 years, there is still some form of government recourse/reform if one day the political situation necessitate that. And there's the elected president which supposed to be the watchman* on the government(*not sure if every Singapore feel this is the case or if it's really working).

Also we have a parliamentary session(something like UK and Austrialia but highly scripted/pre-planned) every few months to discuss and improve on issues affecting Singapore.

For me to post this post on SBAF means we arent like North Korea.

I wear IEMs in transit mostly to block out the sound of sloppy eating, frankly. Sadly, they don't really block the smell of greasy fried chicken*, just people chomping open-mouthed and noisily sucking their fingers.

    * Smells like cat food, I dread to think of which bit of the food chain it was scraped from.

Well in the U.S. religion had already gone through some changes (scandals, revolutions, schisms, persecutions etcetera) because many immigrants came from Europe where these changes had once ripped apart the continent and many empires.

Thing is, in Europe still certain religious groups still feel you cannot thus may not directly critique their religion and theology. To a degree I understand but that understanding stops when religious people behave in certain ways. Religious or not, when people behave like idiots, they deserve their share of criticism.

This awareness is not pleasant. Then again f**k it, that is life.

Probably already made a few enemies here hi Madaboutaudio-san but I'm willing to learn more, so I'm giving myself up for your abuse again. Redid the initial writeup to something more concise and what I hope is closer to SBAF standards (definitely not expecting it to win any hearts back, of course). No mention of plankton or other various seafood, I'm afraid. Ears not quite there yet.

Also I do apologize for the huge pictures, downsizing is such a chore. Just added the essentials and left out the rest.

Well uh, don't let me stop the party. Train's derailed and rerailed and now the new rail's the only rail and my current rail's the derail

In that case the Jaws quote suffices.

    Still way too long.
I personally don't like the listing of gear in the second post either. More often than not it's used as a way of bragging.

    Kudos for trying again though.

Best to just list your current gear in your profile imo. Makes it easier for someone to know your current preferences and viewpoint.

So is this a revision of the review?

I remember when I posted my first ever "rebhiew" here. It was taken quite well actually. The guys here can come off as mean and overly harsh sometimes, but I much prefer their true unadulterated advice/thoughts than comforting-not-very-helpful lies you can get from other forums (sometimes, not always tho).

Sorry to see you having a rough time. As many before said, we really don't take ourselves seriously and ridicule each other a lot. But what we are serious about is audio. I guess. I think. Maybe. Most likely. Definitely.

Oh hey! The review made it onto HF's front page. Congrats.

The conclusion though... I'm not sure I can really agree with it.

Have you heard the UE4 (a reference entry-level CIEM around here) or other entry level CIEMs? How can you be sure that it performs above and beyond its price point without hearing more expensive IEMs?

It's perplexing to me that you have not listened to the more expensive items, considering you live in arguably the best place on earth to audition nearly all of them. UE and fitear stuff at Jaben, Campfire at E1, and all the other top end stuff at Music Sanctuary, all within 15 mins of Orchard station.

This is precisely the point we all have been making, Crinacle. How can you talk about price/performance ratio without actually knowing what performance is possible or available at a given price point? It's not to hassle you, it's just a straight-ahead question that any reviewer needs to address. The prose sounds clever and pretty, like John Darko's reviews, but if you make a claim about things like market value you should be ready to back it up with an argument ("one of the popular choices in this price bracket is ____ but it has a treble I find fatiguing for everyday listening, and [reviewed product] doesn't have this issue. ____ is another popular choice but it costs $100 more and the difference isn't big enough for me to recommend it to someone looking to upgrade from $50 IEMs. ___ is great but only sounds great with a proper amp, so I can't recommend it for on-the-go listening unless you're using a portable DAP.")

EDIT: looking at your review again, you do a comparison, which I can appreciate it, but they are very different price brackets (one costs double, right?). People are usually not ready to double what they were going to spend.

Dude, we all kinda like you. Not an enemy at all! Don't even for a minute think like that. You're like an innocent Luke Skywalker who walked into the wrong cantina without Obi. We gave you a few wedgies for our own amusement; but you've earned at seat at the bar.
