So my UERM died and there's a good deal of AK T8ie (brand new) so I picked one pair up. Decided to change some tips and the filter grill on the left earpiece fell off. Technically this pair is out of the box for just 27 hours. I can put it back and it's kinda secure... but can come off when I want to switch tips (OK, OK, I'm not doing stupid shit again). Sonically speaking it's not affecting anything...

Edit: sonic impressions to follow after a few days.

So what i'm hearing is.... Don't jump on the headphonebar deal?, I'm so damn tempted you have no idea. It's either this or the Ex1000 but i'm gonna be out of Canada by the time those things show up from japan.... My H8.2 is scheduled for tomorrow so i kind of want to wait for that.

No, Travis is a fantastic guy and there's nothing wrong with him. I'm guessing I have a similar misfortune with Beyer as Merv had with the T1 Gen 2.

Let me know how you get on with the sound, or if your impressions are largely the same. Might grab a pair while they're hot.

Let us know how it goes. I would only get the mkii at this point. I think your take on the clarity will be the dealmaker or breaker for me.

Updated sonic impressions (take it as a combo impression/rant with DP-X1. Also I don't have any of my reference stuff at the momentf)

    - Large stock rubber asymmetrical tips with very shallow fit. The fit is speechlessly fantastic and even better than customs. f**k yeah!
    - Also Onkyo DP-X1 is definitely light-flavored.
    - Overall a smooth and warm-ish signature.
    - No massive bass. Still, bass is clearly elevated and has slight bloom. Not a bad thing at all actually - pretty fun signature. Note decay is insufficient and suffers inability to reproduce end-note cue nuance and continuous-but-separated effects. Bass is nicely textured & extended and has a very correct timbre though.
    - Midrange is not dry, but not very full either. Ultimately, it's a 2-D presentation in comparison to the bookshelf-like impressions of Andromeda.
    - Early treble roll off. Still not very satisfactory.
