AMP with XLR-outs?

f**k me, was moving last night and I dropped my Vali on the floor, which is the only amp I have at hand. Need something new with XLR-outs so I get volume control on studio monitors. Has to work OK with Senns HD650/HD800.

Please keep it sub 1k$ so no LynxHilo, GeekPulse, Violectric, Auralic, BenchmarkDac, Rag etc...

Some of the AudioGD stuff has XLR out (10.33, NFB28, 1AMP) if you're willing to risk ChiFI. I love my NFB28.

 

You should be able to get a balanced GEEK Pulse under $1000 easily on the used market. I sold a mint condition Xfi model for just $600. I have seen the Infinity model for $900. Shipping to Oslo might be the biggest hindrance. As for what is popular here, the Mjolnir2 might be the only one on your list beyond a GEEK Pulse. However, it is out of your stated price range. An older model could easily be had under $1000. Like SpaceLaser mentioned, Audiogd might be an option, though I have only heard their higher end stuff.

MJOLNIR 2 balanced sounds real good to me. (yes i copied and pasted that from website)

 

I can get a Pulse Xfi with the lps for for 1100$ or order a Mjolnir2 for 1000$ from SchiitEurope. @Koth Ganesh is the Pulse worth bothering with HD800's?

 

Mjolnir 2 XLR outs work great for my powered monitors, and it gives lots of flexibility with tube or SS, balanced or SE headphones...etc. One complaint is the preamp outs do not mute when headphones are plugged in, so I have my powered monitors on their own power strip and use that as on/off

 

Don't understand the anti-China stuff I've been seeing recently. Audio-GD is a good company regardless of where they're based.

There are tons of American companies I'd never buy from and tons of Chinese companies I'd never buy from.

No need to classify something offensively as Chi-Fi even if you feel clever doing so.

Anyway... I would also recommend Audio-GD amps. They're the only amps I've owned with XLR, though.

I don't mind Audio-GD at all, just I just try to avoid taxes. The pulse was locally and the Schiit stuff is within EU so can ship it to my cabin in Sweden

 

Did not like the Pulse Xfi with the HD 800.

 

I don't look down on AGD, just poking fun at some sentiment I've seen around for Chinese amps.
