Are those stock tubes on lyr2/mjolnir2 really unsatisfied?

Actually, if you check the descriptions (after clicking on the tube), those tubes state they are NOS (new old stock). For instance, the Tesla tube description states "This is a new old stock Tesla E88CC tube from the mid '70's." On the Philips one, I know it doesn't state it in the description, but the picture is of an old production box I believe. You can just check the date code on the picture of the box. So, I believe both of those are inexpensive, but they are both NOS. In addition, you might want to check out the heater current required of the 7DJ8 before using it in a Lyr 2. It shouldn't exceed the 415ma maximum heater current. Also, you might want to check with Schiit in regards to the compatibility since that is a 7Volt tube versus the standard 6.3Volts. As a side note, I actually got my tubes from thetubestore.com because they were willing to forgo the up selling that many tube retailers do by passing on the revenue of cyrogenically treated tubes. In fact, they have an article on their web site stating they could not hear any difference. I figured if they were honest about this, that hopefully they were an honest group to get matched and balanced tubes from.

I got a message back from Nick T from Schiit stating that they do not recommend the 7DJ8 for the Lyr 2, so you might not want to get that one. I have a feeling it might be because it typically requires a 7.6 heater voltage, and the Lyr 2 only supplies 6.3 volts. Nonetheless, basically there is some risk in using that tube it seems.

I just bought a pair for my Lyr 2 as an experiment into tube rolling.

Maybe I don't have as much of a trained ear, but haven't noticed a night / day difference so far. What characteristics should I listen for between these and the stock Canadian tubes?
