MF, is it correct to assume that the SR 007mk1 is being powered by your BHSE? I have both the Stax 717 and the KGSShv but always wondered about the Blue Hawaii...

Now I can't help but think you're Indiana Jones.

Have you looked into speakers at any point?

Are you going to make it to the SBAF meet up? It'd be fun to meet someone who's been a part of this community for a while.

What album is your vinyl white whale?

Oh yeah, that. It wasn't a misogynistic comment IIRC, but a lame joke about people who get sex change operations or something. It was more a case of "what's your point??" But brilliant designers can often be socially awkward, so ehh. *shrug*

As for this stuff, I don't really see any of it as drooling. People are just being friendly and humoring a bored dork. And even if some of the questions get weird, I'm cool with it; I'm an adult and can handle it.

I have a tendency---perhaps unfortunate---to make "personal threads" for fun: diaries to share my day-to-day listening impressions and talk about music habits, etc. I'm sure some folks see that as unwarranted self importance on my part or fan club participation on the part of others, but I like maintaining that human element in this hobby.

Correct. The BHSE really "wakes up" the SR-007mk1, and they have excellent synergy together. In fact that's the sole reason for my having the BHSE (well that and the normal bias plug).

The SRM-717 works very well with the SR-007mk1 too.

Yeah, I spent a year or so looking for a nice pair of speakers. I settled on a pair of Raidho monitors that I found for a substantial discount. I really wanted some horns from OMA, but funds aren't that easy to come by for me lmao.

I'd like to go, but travel for me these days is a bit difficult. My health isn't the most stable at the moment. I'll be there in spirit though!

As for my vinyl white whale... hmm. Good question! Maybe an original pressing of Fire and Steel by Flames of Hell?

I still find it oddly curious that there is no mention of the SR-009 in this... :)

I had the SR-009 for a while, but it eventually went bye-bye. It's a brilliant headphone to my mind, no doubt about that, however I actually prefer the original SR-Omega (to which the SR-009 is a spiritual successor).

I personally feel a properly driven SR-007mk1 and SR-009 are closer than most people seem to think, and the SR-009 has a brighter signature I personally prefer less.

How do you listen to music? Do you listen while you work?

I see a lot of people with these 'work rigs' and I honestly don't know how they listen while they work. I can see it if you need to take a break, but not otherwise.

At work I usually get some time to listen during my lunch and office hours, provided no one made an appointment to see me. Also I spend a lot of time researching and writing, and sometimes ambient or electronic music helps get me in the zone for that.

My favorite time to listen though is either at night with my turntable before bed or while taking early morning walks. I love using IEMs in the cold mornings when the sun is just starting to rise.

Do you have an unpopular audio related opinion? If so, what is it?

Do you mean an opinion that would be unpopular here on SBAF or on head-fi?

Bugger all that stuff about creepiness. it's just great to find a real live human woman in a world that tends to be wall-to-wall men.

And MuppetFace, I never spent much time on Headfi, but I remember you from there, and it is damn nice to meet you here.

Sorry to hear about your health. You must be hugely strong to have lived through that. Hat's off.

Doh! She likes the BHSE. That offends the uberfriend.

Seriously Romi, I am so delighted to see this thread. I don't give a damn what anyone writes in it. You started it on October 3, 2016. Delighted. I have been searching and wondering for months. Be well!

Wowser - I didn't realize you used to own that many headphones. Crazy. Any other collections?

I have to ask: Except the Stax Mk1 what are your other favorites and which were your biggest disappointments?

(if you say stock HD800 that's fine...)

Hi, you mentioned how strangely people looked at you at meets. Did you get similar experience for example in some hi-fi shop? Being asked if you are looking for gift for your husband or something like that.

I spent like 5 posts talking about my fondness for Stax. Surely that's enough? ;)

But yeah, uh... I'm not really a big Eddie Current fan these days, I guess? Still love the Zana Deux though. That amp is the cat's pajamas.

I've also liked stuff Marv has hated, especially when it comes to IEMs. The K3003 comes to mind.

I used to like the Sony SA5000. Although I haven't listened to one in a while, so maybe I'd hate it now?

Back on Changstar I would have said "I like turntables more than DACs!" But now that turntables are respected here on SBAF, I need to find something else to be contentious about, so maybe I'll track down that Nakamichi Dragon tape deck I've always wanted...

    I'm actually a C.H.U.D. thankyouverymuch.

Hey, nice to see you! Been a while.

Most unfortunate for all of us. Hopefully another meet then.

Wow, I've not seen a record so difficult to obtain as that one. Most of them can be gotten for cash, but it doesn't look like there are even many sellers of it.

    1. Other collections would be:
    vinyl records, CDs, cassette tapes
videogame stuff (especially Sega consoles and SNK carts)
    Doom related stuff / merchandise
    vintage Walkmans
sealed boxes of Magic the Gathering (more for the investment)
    old books

I'm constantly at war with myself, because part of me loves to collect and archive, while another part hates clutter.

    2. Other favorite headphones:
Stax Omegas, the original Orpheus, Jades (RIP), most of the stuff LFF mods, RhythmDevil's modded T50RPs, Fostex THX00 and TH900, Jecklin Float QAs, older Lambdas or the newest ones, Koss ESP 950, Joe Grado HP1000 (especially modded), Kabeer's modded Aiwa HP500s, dBel modded Yamahas, YH1000, Sennheiser HD650, the Abyss AB-1266, and for certain kinds of music the Sony R10.

Note: I don't necessarily own all of those now, and in some cases I've never owned them.
Most recently the Utopias and especially the PMx2 have really impressed me.

Biggest disappointments would be the AKG K1000 and Audio-Technica L3000, probably.

Nope. It seems to me that sales people are trained not to make those kinds of assumptions. But I did have someone see my setup at home and assume it belonged to some man in my life.

I quite like it with the Audio Zenith PMx2.
Before that, I was enjoying it with the Code X.
