    As an anecdote to FOTM-ism, I thought I'd start a thread for older gear (>5 years old) that is a) still available and b) still competitive.

    The most obvious choices as a newcomer are the Sennheiser HD600/650s, which seem to not only compete with but outcompete the competition at their price bracket.

    What else? Or, if you're feeling bold, what will be a classic in 5 years time?
