Sorry, but I just have to ask.....

Do some of you first have to take measurements of your electric toothbrushes before you'll use them ?
(" Damn it ! I knew my Oral B was a bit off by the number of pulses I was feeling on my gums !)

Only the electric toothbrushes that I've never used before that cost $1800 or more.

Very good conversation here on HD800.

I believe someone nailed it with the comment, " As the amp output impedance increases the midbass bump increases in the hd800.

Iam having the same issue with my hd800 from the Bakoon hda mk3 amp.

Looking for something that will give me the same dynamics and detail minus the mid bass bump.

Given how much love the hd800 gets here with all the fantastic community mods, I'm curious to see an updated list that would include the ECP T3 & DSHA (for SS) Crimson, new ZDS, BW and any others I might be forgetting!

I think there is a strong cognitive bias towards thinking that new things are better than old ones. Especially with audio gear.

Perhaps, but there have also been (reportedly) vast improvements on an already great ZD SE amp with the ZDS, the Crimson (reportedly) sounds more aggressive than the Glass, not to mention the T3. So, while I agree with certain aspects of your post, there are still "changes" worth discussing regardless of absolute claims of better or worse (certainly not correlating that with old and new).

Another, perhaps more fitting, interpretation of my post is a call for an updated -- as in broader, more inclusive -- list of amps in light of recent relevant amps.

I had a quick listen of the Crimson on my HD800 this weekend, with a Gungnir Multibit feeding it and a Valhalla 2. That was a bit eye opening. It wasn't in any way bad, but I preferred the Valhalla over it.

What tubes do you recommend for the Mojo 2? Currently running the LISST tubes because all the tubes I have sound terrible with the HD800.

My favorite tubes are the 75' reflectors. Just beautiful tonality. But they are pricey. Most of the telefunkens e88cc have nice balance and tone.

Yeah sure. But the quote you gave from me is definitely not an example of this. It is well understood that all other things being equal, 0 ohm output amps like the BCL don't sound as good as amps that are 30-60 ohm. I think that senns own amp falls somewhere in the middle of that range.

So, the theory is good, but you can't quote me to make yer point. Besides I am kind of in a touchy mood right now...:p

I'm not so sure that 30-60 ohms is ideal. My favorite amplifiers have less than 10 ohms output. I'm not even sure it matters if it's nears zero or 5 ohms or in between. I think other attributes matter, like how this output z is managed.

Will be interesting to see the final specifications and what Sennheiser changes on the HDVD 800 (Black). Japanese sites are reporting the HDVD 800 will move from the PCM 1792 to the PCM 1794 and will be capable of DSD.

I'm considering either the ECP torpedo III or the Project Horizon as my next amp to perhaps pair a bit better with my HD800 than my current project ember and liquid carbon. What are peoples thoughts on these two amps?

The Torpedo III got rave reviews at the Bat Area meet. It held its own against amps twice the price.

I heard the Mjolnir 2 w/ LISST at SF Canjam and thought it was too bright for my HD800S. It was paired with a Gungnir, don't know if it was MB or not. Do you think the brightness could be attributed to not enough warmup time on the Gungnir Multibit?
