Cable repair? Alternative replacement advice

    I have some JVC kenwood earphones I just love, but I’m already on the 2nd cable for these. And the replacement is over 100$ for the jvc ones.

    It’s the usual “wiggle the wire until it works” problem on the right.

    is there a fix for this wire issue? Alternatively can I just get another generic wire and use that instead? (I’ve had these for years but no idea if they’re interchangeable with other brand cables)
