Freshly roasted beans. The best air freshener.

First time roasting my own Kenyan. Very clean compared to the varieties I usually drink. Not bad, but I don't think I'll order it again. Might try a lighter roast this weekend.

They do a survey at the beginning about your preferences. I told them I like light-roasted wild and interesting Coffees. My first order is going to be a Burundi from Irving Farms in New York and there is a Congolese coffee in the queue For next time that sounds pretty tasty. I’m already doing a 2 bags every three weeks subscription from Counter Culture (their sub program is pretty nicely priced and they gave me double the coffee on my first order) so I figure this 1 bag every two weeks could fill in some of the gap.

i’ll report back on it once I get the first shipment and try it.

I'm not keeping up with this thread because a lot of the discussion is about CONUS beaneries, but here's some espresso pr0n for you.

Been trying to support small businesses through the mail during COVID, so I thought I’d recommend Roos Roast’s beans. I don’t live in Ann Arbor anymore, but at one time they were just a coffee cart at the farmers market. Now they have a fantastic shop downtown. I’d especially recommend their Lobster Butter Love and Portland in the 90s beans. Free, super-fast shipping with $100 orders. We just got a new delivery of both a few days ago.

If anyone is interested I can refer up to 3 friends to drinktrade.com and they tell me you get your first bag for free when you subscribe if you use the referral. If you want me to refer you then PM me your email. I don’t get anything for the referrals so I’m not trying to sell anyone on it here. The coffees have been good and interesting picks so far.

Question: what is the best fair trade arabica to buy that is the least loaded with marketing B.S.?

I want the farmers to enjoy my money so they feel appreciated. I will not mind paying more. Coffee is too important for me.

I am not spending a lot on coffee but this has been like 2 times as good at least compared to the second place.. My fav was https://www.coffeepeople.ee/e-pood/kategooria/kohv/filters/istandus:Inga Aponte

I have not had a lot of these better beans and the experts regard Lavazza... Well how to put it. Not the highest because big brand mass production etc. I don't care, I am not marketing or anything. I like good coffee.

I imagine there are a lot of smaller companies that offer quality coffee. Try to find these and also it is probably always more expensive, which for me is not an issue. How much do you need to consume.. I mean common.

How great is James Hoffman though? I discovered his channel at the start of lock down after I bought a V60. The other night I dreamt I went to the UK to go to his cafe he made me an espresso in shitty plastic cup from a drinking fountain and then put choclate on it o_O

But that was just in your dream, not IRL ;)

Here's some of my own espresso pr0n.

And after a month I finally got the knack of frothing milk.

I am sure nobody will be impressed but I have been drinking Death Wish Coffee since I moved. It is very clean tasting and a pound of it is 16 ounces. 12 ounce pounds are a pet peeve of mine.

I am with you bro on the ever shrinking pound of coffee. I only drink passable, affordable coffee and one of my fave grocery brands Peet's just demoted their Big Bang beans to 10.5 oz. At least I can get some non burnt Starbuck Veranda beans for $4.99 for 12 oz on sale.

Just tried a couple of coffee shop Ethiopian Yirgacheffe beans (I like lighter roast w/ fruit notes) but at $18 and $15 per # it is not for everyday.
