This is such a ridiculous cover but such a truly fantastic album. Perhaps my favorite of 2014. Won album of the year all over Scandinavia and parts of Europe.

Hey thanks for this suggestion! The record is a killer! If this is a digitally mastered record, THIS is how it should be done. Sounds totally analog, but I'll be surprised if the band went through the trouble of doing a full analog mastering and not promoting it. But man, stunning sound and performance.

Spinning this one right now, mono record playing back through the spectacular Miyajima Zero mono MC cartridge:

Last spin of the night...winding down to go to bed. Fired up the Ray Samuels B52 with HD-800 through the Townshend Rock 7 turntable for this one :)

And before I forget, heard this Monday night! Very very few records of the Dagar brothers....this is when they were very young. Heavenly listening experiences CAN be created on Earth with the right music, some Bunnhabhain 18 yr Single Malt and some Dhrupad Indian Classical vinyl. 'Twas a great evening winding down a long worn day...

@shaizada on your recommendation I picked up 2 copies of the MoFi Kind of Blue. Good looks! Do you find the recording a bit heavy on the low end, or is it just my gear?

That's great...best version I have heard, but you are spot on, it is slightly heavy on the bottom end. That is the only thing that is a little out of balance, but it's not bad. I guess you can hear the bass work even more clearly this way, but the rest is just sublime.

@Wfojas : The vinyl is fantastic sounding...how well it gets handled depends on the tracking abilities of your cartridge actually. I already had the previous vinyl release, so I didn't buy the newer green marbled vinyl version. I'd get that if I didn't have it already.

Just FYI, I haven't heard a bad sounding Opeth vinyl release. I have all of the studio releases.

@shaizada Nice. Dense rock is always hard on vinyl, they get so compressed, and my table isn't the most resolving. I'll pick it up and tell you what I hear when it get it.

Just picked up a the new QRP pressing of Muddy Waters Folk Singer , and I'm pumped to compare it to the original Classic Records remastered version! When Hajime Soto gave it to me on Sunday (check into Hajime's Eastwind Import for some choice vinyl) he knew I LOVED the Classic pressing - so I'm givin' it a good cleaning right now on the house VPI cleaning machine and then its goin' on my vinyl rig! Think I'll use my grandfathers vintage 1968 McIntosh receiver (has an incredible fully-discrete headphone amplifier section) for my headphone amp and phonostage tonight for the first time!! My uncle just gave the McIntosh to me a a year ago - my grandfather passed away - but he was a hero of mine and a serious audiophile. I usually use my Unison Research Simply Phono tube stage but I'm gonna experiment and just listen before I do any comparisons...

I also picked up a copy of Mr. Oizo LambsAnger a couple weeks ago at Touch Vinyl in LA and I have yet to give that a spin so its time!! My VPI rig is soundin' SCHWEET!
