Makes me wish I had a slow mo camera, I'm sure a 7.62 tracer would look awesome going through a vacuum tube.

 

Seems even phones can capture slow-mo. Here is an article from 2018! Phone cameras have leaped forward again since then.:

Just add a tri-pod and youre set.

 

My pixel 7 can do 1/8 speed, whatever that works out to in fps. I was picturing one of those 250,000 fps videos where you can see the bullet deform and spall.

Edit: The 7.62 is flashy, but I could use something slower like a shotgun slug or .45 to capture it better? Idk, I'll test with old incandescent light bulbs first.

Off topic but: $0.50/stamp and they're good for "forever" now. Not like before you had to keep track of postage costs and buy supplemental $0.01 stamps when cost of postage increased but you still had old stamps.



If we are going to destroy the tube creatively - does anyone have a way to dump molten metal onto the tube or destroy it with something heat or energy related? Or use maybe some sort of liquid or something silly as a projectile? Only because there are lots of videos of people shooting glass even on youtube already and I can't imagine a vacuum tube will be THAT different.

 

And make sure to add the destruction video to the end of the YT video.

 

Maybe stuff the registration card in front of the slug so we can see that bastard explode into a trillion firey pieces.

 

Sucks to hear about this. I was planning on getting the Western Electric 300Bs for my Studio Jr. Looks like I'll have to reverse course and look for other options.

 

Heard about that from a mutual friend, at the very least you should be able to seek recourse with the local distributor, no? Then again, the less money given to WE at this point, the better.

 

To be honest, my experience with the local distributor, and I guess WE is partly at fault, has been disappointing. I placed an order for the tubes around early February. They originally told me I should expect it in around 2 weeks, but it never arrived. Called the distributor several times to follow up and I never got a decent response back. It's been frustrating.

I'm considering an Elrog at this point, but I'm 50/50 right now, mostly due to lack of feedback regarding to how it pairs with the SJR and Utopia. With the WE, there is at least some reference points with regards to the signature. But I think the smart play may just be to save the money for the Stellaris, which I just ordered a few days ago.

If you have a current gen DSLR it can certainly do slo-mo. My Nikon J4 can do 1200 fps and it’s pretty old definitely not high-end

 

I have an Olympus OM-D E-M10 MKII and it only does half speed unfortunately.

 

I would lend my camera but its only a basic dslr Canon T3i that maxes out at 60fps @ 720p.
