PI2AES Production Update 4/9/22 - connectors came in and we picked up 50 units today. We will start shipping Tuesday after test and pack. It will talk the week to do that and then we should have more units next week. We will update again next week.

Looking forward to get a Mercury Streamer.
Question I bought a SBooster LPS 24 for my PI2AES. Can I use this power supply with Mercury Streamer?

I am sorry but no. We reduced the voltage on Mercury to allow the entire chain of voltage into the critical clock circuitry to be all linear.

Does anyone here know how to set up their Pi2 to take a signal from a modem via WiFi instead of ethernet? I've researched it, but can't figure it out. (Hey, that's why they call it the 'Dummies Guide', right?)

Which Pi version do you have? Also which software are you running?

wi-Fi is part of the raspberry pi itself. For the 3B and later it’s built-in. On older pi’s you need an add on. The PI2AES has no involvement in that process at all. It’s in the player software to enable Wi-Fi. So as @loadexfa asked, tell us what software are you using and that will help people guide you to the correct place.

I have a Pi4. It seems that this is quite complex to set up, so I'll need to do lots more research. Thanks.

Did you go to the beginning of this thread and follow the instructions for installing volumio? Part of the set up will be to enable your connection to your Wi-Fi. It seems reasonably well documented from my perspective, but since I already have done it I can’t remember what it was like the first time!

Hi Michael, thanks for replying over email. Any difference between the 4GB SBAF edition vs the 8GB production model?

I thought I'd post an update to my situation. I ended up having to install the OS onto the RPi. Through that process, I found out from the Pi forums that the Pi does not like using a 32GB card to do that. My first three attempts failed using a 32GB, so I ordered a 16GB card, and on my second attempt, it worked. Enabled the WiFi, reassembled the Pi2AES, and am now officially a happy camper. :sail:

Good for you that you got it going. There is much Voodoo and dark art involved in this pursuit. Swearing frequently may help. :)
I have three Pi4Bs and half a dozen 32GB cards.
I have had no trouble installing PCP multiple times.
    I am using SanDisks.
I use Balena Etcher, and format the cards as EXFAT using my Imac.
I keep the disk images on file to re flash as required.
I take precautions and drink a glass of red wine before each install.
    I'm sure it helps.
    Try it. :)

    Throwing things helps as well, but is costly, especially with audio gear. |{

    Hello everybody,

I should receive my PI2AES next week.
    I have already a 19 V linear power supply for it, and a RBi3.

In theory, sound should be even better if the HAT and the RBi3 are powered by separate LPS'.
Did anyone of you tried doing it?
If yes, how did you proceed?

    I built it with a separate 2.5mm x 5.5mm dc plug for 20v and usb for 5v ;/

In theory yes, I am powering the PI2AES with a 24v LPS and the RPI4 with a iPower X but honestly could not tell any difference compared to using the 24v LPS to power both.

The PI2AES is already a very low noise level device. Beyond a certain point, it just does not make much difference.

Thank you @Wobbletits and @dericchan1 for your feedback.
When I'll receive the device, I will proceed with tests in my system, and I'll report to this thread if I hear a difference when it is powered by a single or a double LPS.

    Hello @Wobbletits and @dericchan1 ,
I'm powering the whole device (HAT + RBi3) with the 19V LPS.
The 19V LPS is connected to the J1-DC Jack of the HAT.

I have a 5V Shanti that can power separately the RBi3.

I can connect the 5V/3A output of the Shanti to the micro-USB power port of the RBi3, while keeping the 19V LPS connected to the J1-DC Jack of the HAT.
For that, is there something to switch on the HAT to stop the 19V from powering the RBi3?

Hi if you wish to power the Pi separately, there is a jumper to remove from the pi

    https://goldensound.audio/2021/07/22/pi2aes-streamer-measurements-and-5v-psu-mod-instructions/

Scroll to the middle of the page, you will see Goldenone circled the location of the jumper in red

Yes there should be a jumper on the pi2aes that connects 5v down to the lower board that you want to remove... it says PI5V over it.

Err whoops. I didn't see someone had already replied.
