If you're going to bother with mods why not get the case powdercoated while you're there? Will likely require complete disassembly though :(

I kinda like the patina. I was thinking of powder coating it before I got it, but now I'm not so sure.

As a small business owner who enjoys being a small business owner and not a CEO, I disagree with your point. Some would rather make 5 widgets a year their way and make less than make 100 widgets for mass consumption at a higher profit.

People didn't give a crap about the Super 7 because it was priced too low to be taken seriously. When the S7 came out, Jude was at the height of his powers, HF was on full-stupid mode, and SBAF didn't exist. HF'ers were buying $2000-$3500 amps that I knew sounded like shit but just never said anything because no one asked. Go back in time and see how much these hyped amps of years' past cost now. Some are like used-condoms. People don't even want them.

Craig didn't understand things that he needed to do:
    1. Pay Jude
    2. Complain to Jude that his product wasn't given enough coverage
    3. Leverage payment to be able to market product on HF boards more than the non-paying MoT.
    4. Increase S7 price to $2700
    5. Watch orders come in
    6. Pay Jude a bit more after Jude comes through
The guy is too proud. Even a year ago, I asked Craig to consider sponsoring Jude. Craig actually did so once, but he didn't work the money, so he got no results. Gotta do #2 and #3 to get money's worth. Jude is like my lawn guys, gotta remind them.

Meanwhile, I've been contacted by multiple people asking if I'm willing to sell the Super 7, and others who have expressed interest if I ever decide to sell.

The fun part about the Super 7 is easy mods, and infinite tailoring of sound via different tube combinations - within certain parameters.

My guess is that @Luckbad will one day have an Aficionado, probably customed tuned with special interstage caps, cathode bypass caps, and other tweaks to get it the way he wants.

Had I not lost money on the Liquid Crimson scam, I'd probably already be bugging you to get an order in for one and would have the Super 7 up for sale to pay the deposit.

Maybe December timeframe I'll be able to get an order in.

It's pretty incredible how much of a difference rolling the driver tube makes.

Being a Russian tube addict, I picked up one of those 6n8s Melz metal base perforated anode tubes. Sounds outstanding, and made a pretty massive difference (possibly even a bigger difference than changing 4 of the 6 other tubes).

I'm not sure if the perforated anode matters. I'll probably try some of the normal anode versions at some point. I love the 6n9s Melz metal base tubes (6SL7 equivalent), and those are like the less expensive versions of this tube construction wise.

My love affair with the Super 7 continues. My love affair with 6SN7 tube sellers not so much.

I'm seriously tempted to just get a couple dozen really good 7N7 tubes, pop those in 6 of the slots, then focus on changing out only the driver tube and caps.

EDIT: I totally bought 20x 7N7 tubes and I'm using only variants of this tube type now.

Just need adapters. The 7N7 are a staple for me. Only three kinds. The black triangle plates are just slightly dark - neutral. I love these and I have a ton of them. The tall H plates are rare now. They are slighty bright, in a good way.

Don't be afraid to get rando 6SN7s if you can find them for cheap. Most will find a place in the S7. This amp was a lot of fun.

You might want to consider transforming rolling. Cinemag's got one that should be similar, but better the the first run Electraprint.

I'll see if I can find the specs on the transformers unless you have them handy. I plan to be lazy about cap rolling when I get to it and start with Jantzen Superior-Z since I like those for price/performance in my DAC.

I have a couple of 7N7 to 6SN7 adapters. Maybe I'll grab 5 more. Those tall bottle 7N7s don't seem very common but look cool.

Get some bassier sounding caps for the 0.1uf stage on the Mk2. The neutral OPTs need them. This would make more sense if you've heard what Mk1 can do. And those particular 10uf motor run caps some of us use help too.

The ability to swap so many tubes and having so many 6SN7 is driving me nuts. If this is the Eddie Current house sound, I need to eventually get the Aficionado. I already have a few 5670 tubes that I love (went through that multi-dozen tube rolling adventure already), and there aren't many 2A3 options out there.

The question: Do I find a way to keep the Super 7 and get myself to bleeping stop swapping tubes, or do I sell it and downgrade while I save up for an Aficionado?

Edit: I put my other tubes in the box and put the box in the closet under another box.

I haven't swapped a tube in an hour! A NEW RECORD.

Just find a tube combo you like and stop. No guarantees the Af amp will sound similar or to your tastes.

Yes. It also seemed like @Luckbad fixed the image as well cause it showed up for me shortly after posting.
