So, i'm extremely late to the game and of course the te-02n no longer exists. Has anyone heard the TE-04? Would they respond well to the mod?

There are still some stray TE-02n here on Indonesia, both new and used, but I don't think the international shipping cost to California makes it worthwhile.

Well I want to ask the difference between transpore and micropore....

I have brainwavz jive, which I think is way faster than fostex but has issue with 5khz ringing. That takes away neutrality

Transpore has bigger vents and a more subtle effect than Micropore. Here's an illustration of the effect of Transpore on another IEM; it does take down the 2-6k region:

I tried Micropore on those, but found the effect too muffling. Transpore OTOH was nice (although I'm currently using them without it).

I've been using this earphone for a bit over a year now, and the right side has started to fail. I believe this is caused by the cable fraying near the Y-split.

Although I'm completely unfamiliar with audio DIY, I would really like to try and repair/recable it so that this can continue being my daily driver.

As such, can anyone in this thread point me to reliable resources for this? What tools do I need and what cheap options are there for materials to get the job done?

Are there any significant differences between TE-02N and TE-02WP? The wp are the only ones I can currently find for sale.

From what I remember, the WP were the 16 ohm version and the N the 32 ohm version. The WP sounded better out of the box and didn't require modding. However, the N had technically more potential (particularly at the low and high end of the FR) when modded.

Anyway, if these are the 16 ohm version, I wouldn't recommend the N-mod for them.
