Putting this here as the op-amps could be great for DIYers. The real prize is the Muses01 op-amps but the Asus is a solid dac/amp.

This should be good for a solid step or two above built in pc audio, and I used the line out as just a dac to my BHC+SB for a while with great results. The dac section is the highlight here but the amp will get you by. It also has plenty of cool features such as volume bypass for the LO.

One side of the case has some wear, and the screws in the bottom will fall out but are not needed with how the cover attaches.

"600ohm headphone amplifier" ... Hope that's not the output impedance.

Tbh i am not sure but i dont think so. This came out when the senn hd and beyers were big so everyone was trying to prove they could push those headphones. I used it a long time with my hd6xx.

Oh man I remember this. It had a decent bit of hype as the desktop version of the Asus STX cards that were popular for people with computer builds. I never heard one, but it was popular at the time. Good luck with the sale!

No, this unit uses the highly regarded monolithic chip amp TPA6120 - has great specs and was highly regarded when introduced. The chip itself should have vanishingly low impedance but it is listed as 13ohm.

Found this in the spec sheet:
"Resistor values around the TPA6120A2 of 806Ω and a 39.2Ω were found to offer the optimal conditions of SNR and THD. Starting with 1KΩ resistors for input and feedback, and 10Ω output resistance, the feedback resistance was lowered to increase the amount of current in the feedback network. The output resistance was increased to ease the load on the headphone amplifier when low impedance headphones are connected. Both of these additions contribute to the excellent SNR and THD of the TPA6120A2 in such a low voltage application."

Don't want to derail the FS thread but this is a good deal for someone looking for a solid and well designed all in one desktop solution.

As @dBel84 noted, all the components were pretty highly praised and jumpers to bypass and alter this and that and swappable opamps were icing on the cake. And im not sure about now but the Muses01 was considered the TOTL to beat.

I bought this as it had great reviews with the lcd-2 (which then was still just a PF) and that was my dream headphone. Tbh i finally got one and 10 years later i should probably try it before it is sold.
