The Apex Peak+Volcano discussed on this thread has been sitting sad and idle most of the time since I got an EC Aficionado last year. The Peak is a very good amp, almost neutral with nice layering with a touch of warmth, depending on tube. I used it extensively with MrSpeakers (er Dan Clark Audio) Ether C Flow 1.1 and with ZMF Verité (my favorite headphones with the Peak). Only pairing I did not like was with the power-hungry MrSpeakers Æon C, thin bass and low energy (but the low-impedance planar Æon seems to be just hard to drive, it's also meh with the A&ultima SP1000M DAP that does well with the Verité). Think of the Peak as a less burly but more refined Lyr 3, which is why it replaced the Lyr 3 I had back then.

Nevertheless, the Apex gave many hours of good listening with a (then new) Psvane 6SN7-SE tube. But the Af just does more of what I seek from tubes, greater space and depth, creating a bit more of the illusion of being at the live performance for my favorite modern jazz and classical music. It may not help that my current headphone DAC is an Yggdrasil A2, which does better with balanced outs than with the SE outs that the Peak uses. And the arrival of a DSHA-3F in February to alternate with the Af made the Peak even less needed,

Anyway, I'd like to sell it to a SBAF Friend who can enjoy it (and free some space on my gear rack). I'm not in a hurry because first priority is to avoid COVID-19, so I would have to arrange contactless shipping on this side. If you are willing to wait until I can do that, I'll take $700 + shipping for the amp, power supply, and tube (US only), $100 of which will go to SBAF for the loaner gear fund. If I do not get any takers by the time Gov Newsom declares COVID-19 victory (or whatever passes for it), I'll advertise more broadly. But this is such a special amp that I'd much rather pass it on to another SBAFer.

Photos (or it didn't happen). Listening to it right now (Miles Okazaki's masterful Trickster) via ZMF Verité and almost asking myself "why sell this gem"? Unlike the Af, it is very listenable a few minutes after switching it on. But still, it's silly to keep something this good almost unused.

Yikes, I'm loving the deep Peak bass & kick drum, and the overtones on the guitar on this great Okazaki album. Don't know what I'm doing
