FS: Bifrost 2 black

This is the Unison version. Purchased recently, 'cuz I just wanted to hear it. I decided I don't need it. $675 shipped. PayPal gift preferred. Comes as new. US sale only.

You save tax and shipping from Schiit, so it's more than a $24 discount.

Maybe SBAF wants to buy it for the loaner program

SBAF should just pick this up as a loaner. Seemed like there was enough interest for one

 

I told a guy looking for one on HF that at this point the B2 is too new to fall over yourself trying to snag a used unit. And the extra bit of money gets you a warranty.

I vote sell your orig BF & keep the new, these things scale in odd ways even if it sounds the same now on your setup. There's just potential there in BF2. Also you're not hearing a change with UNISON? Hmmmm, that should really stick out...

...didn't look close at your source to BF2 (yet) -- be sure to try bitperfect on Mac and the 44.1x multiple (Mac upsamples everything to 192) I looked close at the BF2 unison board today, 48/96/192 may be gimped.

@shotgunshane , please understand that the price of new one for me, with tax and shipping from Schiit, was $775-$100 upgrader discount. I suppose there are states with no tax, so it would be cheaper then. At $675, I would losing money on the shipping. Unless upgrading, the savings at $675 is $100 for a buyer, which is not insignificant.

If I end up sending it back to Schiit, I will be out about $35 more for restocking. I can come down that much more. If that’s not enough and the powers that be would like to close this thread, so be it. So, $640 for friends.

@Scott Kramer , the Mac doesn’t upsample unless that’s how it’s set in audio midi. I’m set for bitperfect for 44.1 and iTunes at max volume. The RME has a test, and it reports BP.

 

Oh, I will likely sell the older black Bifrost too for $375. I’ll just keep the RME

 

Maybe send it back to Schiit is the best choice.

 

Thanks. $640 vs $775 isn't a bad deal if one doesn't have the upgrade discount. If no one buys it over the weekend, it will go back to schiit, and there will be some B stock

Yes there's a built-in Mac app called Audio Midi Setup that sets the formats for the different audio outputs, and macOS will convert the streams to whatever that's set to unless you use player software that assumes control of sample rate changes itself (such as Audirvana).
