The winds of purge are sweeping through my meager audio storage space.

Who wants to buy these home-made 300Hz Edgarhorns with FaitalPRO 5MN12 drivers?

Perhaps you want just the drivers? You can buy those from Parts Express, but not from me. The drivers are small and do not deprive me of my already-limited storage space the way the drivers+horns do. :)

Perhaps you want some sort of guarantee these horns will sound as good as ones Bruce Edgar built? That is fine, but you are not cut from the right cloth to own these horns. They are for those who want to live on the wild side of DIY. You might have to tweak. You might have to build a crossover or a notch filter or gasp! use EQ or DSP to get a sound you like.

Here’s the FR of the horns: https://imgur.com/87U4CKK

Here’s how I built the horns, by mine own shakey hand from the original Bruce Edgar Speakerbuilder article. You will find pictures of the horn construction interspersed with construction pictures of a different speaker cabinet. I am lazy and leave it to you to distinguish between the two: https://imgur.com/a/vnAz3 Yes, that's the actual color I painted them. Sorry about that.

Price: $300 for the pair (again, that's for these wooden midrange horns AND drivers), you cover actual shipping cost (I’ll work hard to minimize it while packing the horns well)

    or…

partner with me in the strangest trade ever and send me a Sony NW ZX 300A, i’ll send you the horns, and we’ll split the shipping and call it even. You'll get to tell your friends you traded a weeny DAP for these magnificent home-built horns! You'll be a LEGEND!

Hey that's impressive that you designed such a well measuring speaker in such a small space. Maybe you should start your own speaker company! I love horns, the faital pro drivers are excellent. Wish I had the an opportunity to hear my old smith horns in a larger room of my own. Ah well. Good luck with the sale.

    Best For-Sale Ever!

Kind of sad that you are parting with these after so much meticulous work went into building them. I do hope they find a really, really good long-term home in which to live out their whole lives.

Updating this with exactly what's being offered for sale here:

    • Two midrange Edgar horns that I built. Those are the pink and gray wooden horns you see in the imgur link in the OP.
    • The FaitalPRO drivers for those midrange horns. These: https://www.parts-express.com/faitalpro-m5n8-80-5-neodymium-professional-midrange-12-ohm--294-1143 They're mounted to the midrange horns but can be removed if desired.
    • Two tractrix tweeter horns. Those are the black, smaller, tweeter horns you see in the imgur link.
    • Two Eminence APT50 compression drivers. These are mounted to the tweeter horns.
    • The wooden risers that mount the tweeter horns to the midrange horns, plus the mounting hardware (if I still have that; if not it's standard hardware stores stuff)
    • Two coils and two capacitors that can be used to make a simple first order crossover network between the midrange and tweeter.

    Forgot to include shipping details.

I'll be shipping to whoever buys this from 95472 in a box that's 24x24x16". Weight will be around maybe 30 lbs.

I'm nominating this for the lesser known For-Sale Golden Schlong award; the one for most overlooked deal on the forum.

    In other words, BUMP ;)

I'd take them, but I already have too much crap in the house.

I’d offer them for a loaner tour but the shipping. The horror. The horror...

Alrighty, what's it going to take to get these to a new home?

Do I have to start working on a dowry of some sort to go with these?

    How about a price drop?

New price: $200 not including shipping

Include yourself man you're a handsome devil. At least just for delivery/the weekend.

Surprised these are still around, I'd buy em if I had more space. Will talk to the wife about converting kid room to second listening space. Brb.

It's been proven that playing Mozart at 110dB during infancy increases intelligence. You can just duct-tape the horns to the crib or other child-sized furniture and you're ready to rock.

f**k it. If shipping isn't abysmal to Boulder, I'll take em. God knows I have some dipole woofers that will work great.

Going to compare side by side vs Decware DFR-65s in OB config that I picked up for $200 a while ago. I'll use eminence betas for both setups.

You can close this one @shotgunshane . No sale, so I think I'll just hold on to them for possible use in a future system.
