this is probably only for DIYers and repair geniuses.

    1. LFF modded HE-6 (code-sex?) with hard wired BTG balanced XLR (Neutrik plug) cabling.
extra set of pads, original Hifiman box
originally belonged to Ray and cskippy.
left driver blown due to my mistake of having pre volume up on vidar during plug in, and pop.
right driver fine. original headband and yolks installed.
buy these if you can repair them, or use for spare parts.

    2. brand new Audeze headband (not carbon fiber), but slight mod to fit classic Hifiman cans instead!
never used or installed, but the Audeze "tabs" have been filed off the bottom of the gimbal,
so these can be installed on other headphones,
    such as HE-5, HE6, HE-500, etc.

Somebody said HFM can repair HE6 for about $200, why not contact them first?

    I agree it's worth asking.

They might insist on returning them to stock, which I suppose would defeat the point of getting them improved with mods?

@E_Schaaf might be able to help you out with a repair.

On my last HE-6 repair they only did exchanges and only then if they had one to exchange. No more components for individual repair. Of course, things can change, but that is what I found last year with my blown HE-6 driver.

They dont sell drivers separately - so the only way to fix them is to either send them to HFM and get it fixed back to stock (if theyd still do it) and then have LFF reapply the mods - OR somehow find another pair of he6 with a single working driver or something and do the replacement process yourself - would still have to apply the mods though.

Am I incorrect in remembering that the drivers had to be matched?

You might get an "upgrade" offer to the HEK instead. Never know.
