FS: Super Modded EC Super 7, Jolida Glass DSD tube DAC

Both items have been sold to a very good Friend here.


Trying to get my headphone-related collection down to just two amps and a few DACs, so selling a couple of things:

First, my heavily modded Eddie Current Super 7. This is flat-out a wonderful amp. I had a local technician do the following mods, which really made this a very capable amp.
OPTs changed to Mable Audio 300B transformers
Belleson driver tube regulator
VCap CuTF Elite Reference interstage caps
Jantzen Silver Z-Cap feedback caps
Alps RK27 pot

Caps were chosen for clarity and extension. The OPTs give this a good thumping low end with a little warmth and a lot of body, and it's a beauty of an amp. It was also a joy to research the mods on the amp and dig into years-old threads from here and Changstar, talk to some folks around here, and figure out the direction I wanted to take this thing. If I had to do it all over again, I'd make the exact same mod choices and I'm delighted with how it turned out.
I have this thing currently packed with about $500 worth of NOS Sylvanias, which can come with at no extra cost if you'd like.

Retail cost on the mods alone is about $1k, not counting the tubes or the amp itself. I have this listed here at "friend" pricing. If nobody wants it, I'll probably list it on USAM for $1500 plus shipping. I prefer to keep it within SBAF.


Second is the Jolida Glass DSD tube DAC. Comes with new production Tung Sol tubes plus a pair of Brimar 1957 CV4033 Footscray halo getters that sell for $130 each at pulsetube.
Shipped to CONUS price on the Jolida DAC with tubes is $450.***** DAC has been spoken for. ******
This DAC beat Yggdrasil when some weenies from some other website had a big DAC shootout. It's a great DAC, but I have too many DACs and I want to buy a Stratus so out it goes.

Friends and contributors please. I'd like to keep the Eddie Current with SBAFers and out of the hands of randos if possible.

 

S7's always pop up right after I drop coin on something else LOL. I've yet to hear some of the newer EC amps since Craig doesn't come to our meets anymore.

 

I would buy the S7 if I had space for another amp. I always wanted both a Cavalli and an EC.
