Gear matters!

Hey guys,

Thought id post some gear relevant from my noob point of view on how the more adequate equipment Ive started using, the more I've started to enjoy music!

Creative zen vision:m brought me into the head fi world
creative xfi2 ... what a POS build, but sounded okayish
LG G3 - Lg G6 quad dac version

DX90 as my go to for anything else.

Ive gone from cans to iems to cans, all cheap and bad and expensive and bad and expensive and good. To list a few
Creative ep-630, some random altec lansing over ear style, Sennheiser pmx200 , Hi-Fi RE2, etymotic mc5 and my most current setup was Etymotic ER4PT, about 7 years going strong. in 2015 got into Oppo Pm-3, they did sound amazing, but that shotty pleather flaked, so I sold and am now currently in love with Mr. Speakers AFC! on DX90 to Fiio A5.



I think my most noticeable improvement in upgrade route would be:
1.headphones,
2.source material (Eg high quality mp3s, flac),
3. source player
4. amp

The notice I heard from amp, was all the music in even my IEMs from LG-G6 feels more lively than just straight from the phone. Heck I felt there's a little more ooomph in keeping my dx90 in low gain + amp + iem, instead of dx90 mid gain straight to iem. Does this make sense to you knowledgeable folks?


Surprised but how nice the improvements are with so little investment for listening to music the way its meant to be listened. I guess my next step will be figuring out where go next as portable solutions and figuring something more home-friendly eg. speakers, as all my life i've had those random sony, aiwa, pioneer boomboxes/stereos. But it wasn't until I become an amateur audiophile that it dawned on me "Oh dear, if some upgrades on a portable level give me music this good, what can be had by improving home speakers".


So 2 cents!

Well gear is matter.

In that sense it matters.

Now explain to me why 42 makes sense.

 

Because its the answer to everything and anything except all that matters?
