Go for it. Public thing this time around as I feel we've established a good culture here. As always, not a democracy (the high council, which consists of rotating membership and includes members that don't even know they are on it, has been proven to correct again and again on their vetoes); however all nominations will be duly considered.

Categories include: Headphones, Headamps, Sources, Two-Channel World, IEMs.

    Prior year awards here: https://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/golden-schlong-awards-2019.8835/

Product excellence speaks for itself. Factors such as product longevity (L) and value (V) will also taken into consideration. Repeat nominations are accepted as they will receive an L tag. There will be Gold and Silver winners. And minor mention for the honor roll.

In addition, I am proposing a new Poopy Butthole Award, for any thing or person. Will accept ideas on better names for this award.

    I will begin:

Two DACs I've really enjoyed and punched slightly above their price point: Soekris DAC2541 and Burl B2 Bomber
    Headphone: Nectar Hive
    IEM: CFA Ara, Gaudio Nair

Added Nair to my list. I knew I forgot something.

Nair was so good wasn't it? Despite not being the leading edge in any one aspect, the sum of the parts made a greater whole.

Haven't heard many new releases this year.

Pi2AES for Value? *whoops just noticed that was last year*

Magni 3+ for Value? That was Nov 2019 release.

SW51 (only heard a few minutes but left a decent impression even next to my modded Super 7) for Excellence and Value?

Focal Elex for Longevity? Or is 2017 too soon for that... I know most audiophile product cycles are 2 years or less, so 3 years feels like quite a while.

Lynx E22 for Longevity? Did the the most to kill my digital nervosa of everything I tried and made all of my DACs sound better. Not cheap though and kind of niche. I don't care for dedicated streamers in my own system so I went this route over Pi2AES. Handily beats Eitr, though maybe not a fair comparison.

TTVJ deluxe flat pads. Not a new product, but were finally recognized in Purr1n's 2020 Grado appreciation threads for making Grado great again, which sparked some community interest in headphones long considered antiquated. Old Grado afterwards finally decided to become "innovative" and released a new headphone called Hemp utilizing "f-pads" (their term for TTVJ deluxe) which is arguably the first headphone Grado has sold in decades that sound good stock. Maybe this is the turning point in Grado's history where they begin tuning their polarizing sound for a more neutral flavor due to popularity of Hemp. A deterrent for sure to trying Grados with TTVJ deluxe flats is the unseemly cost for those pads. I would expect Grado to sell replacement f-pads and hopefully they will come at a lower price. So, the TTVJ deluxe flats is difficult to recommend/nominate because price, so maybe nominate Grado Hemp for most improved player award?

Sure. Will take you up on your offer after I clear stuff from my desk. Didn't want to sit on it.

Sony IER M7 - this thing really surprised me, it doesn’t get a lot of love here, but I’m happy me bringing it and it’s more expensive brother the M9 up earlier this year got a few people to buy them and are seemingly enjoying them. I’d consider it a value/excellence pick?

Rockna Wavedream - this is easily the best dac I’ve ever heard. No it isn’t a great value, but I think the bar has been set. Even the Wavelight doesn’t stand up to it in my comparisons.

I nominate the shortest way 51+ for a golden schlong. Now, I realize it already received a silver one last year, but I think it is perfectly deserving of a GOLDEN one. This amp traded blows with my Bryston BHA-1, an amp more than five times its price, and sounds simply phenomenal. It deserves a value award. Especially because, for tube rolling nuts like me, the tubes are 1) cheap, and 2) they all sound pretty great.

Headamp: Schiit Jotunheim R - I've been using the Raal SR1A's for a few weeks now, and I'm very happy with the incredible performance and value of this amp. I tried and enjoyed the dual-mono Aegir combo, but settled on the less forgiving Jot R due to its superior technicalities and bass performance (detail, texture, tightness). It's not a very crowded field for ribbon headphone amps, but this sets the price/performance bar high right from the start.

    Ditto on the MCP2.

I’d throw the Soundsmith Strain Gauge system in there too for excellence since it was the best source I’ve ever heard, but not sure if anyone other than CakeCake is crazy enough to buy one.

SW51 for E and V. When the actual value seems to be in the no man's land for amp pricing, that in itself gets an E nomination. Why this didn't rock gold last year is puzzling to me.

I'd like this for sale post to be recognized in some form just out of its sheer audacity and awesomeness: https://www.superbestaudiofriends.org/index.php?threads/fs-ampocalypse.9758/

I'd bring up using "The Brown Starfish Award", but we're not that civilized.

I'm sure Amir and his objectivist lot at ASR would fit under this.
