    Hello everyone!

Now I'm on my way to buy a set of good speaker and I know this forum is mostly for headphone, but I need suggestion on what forum or site is good for finding good and reliable review of speaker, like Innerfidelity or SBAF of headphone world.

just ask someone on audiokarma. they're mostly vintage audio and speakers. lot of people over is mostly into speakers(new and old) and so forth so, you'll get pretty decent comments and advice.

For reviews I would say Stereophile, Soundstage.com and Audioholics

    For discussion forums:
    AVSForum for Home Theatre
    Gearslutz for Pro Gear

A lot of people here also use speakers. What price range? Powered or not? I've done some research myself despite not owning any good speakers.

My most likely speaker purchase is going to be one of the Emotiva Airmotiv powered speakers. If you don't need them powered and are on a budget, Dayton Audio makes some well-regarded inexpensive bookshelf speakers.

Thank you for all suggestion I will definitely check all of those site.

I'm still not decided on power or not and so on, my budget will be 3000$ but can be stretch.
I need to done a LOT more research because it will be big money and I don't want any regret later. That's why I'm asking for more site and forum for further reading.

    Anyway, how reliable is theabsolutesound?

I think theabsolutesound is a freaking joke. Good luck trying to build one of their "budget" systems.

I think that with the increased cost (on average) of speaker vs. headphone rigs, there really is no substitute for going out to shops in the area and listening.

Also, considering how room-dependent speaker sound is, it would be helpful (if you'd like to solicit our advice) to post the details of the room, current equipment, desired goals, etc.

I also think that anyone even close to your budget should audition a pair of Magnepan speakers. Stereophile has done a slew of recent reviews on more budget-oriented gear and picked the Magnepan 0.7s as their "budget" pick for the year. Herb Reichert's reviews are almost exclusively of more affordable gear like that (e.g., he recommended a pair of 0.7s with a Rogue Audio Sphinx as a budget system with great synergy).

Forums can be helpful. Some of the better ones are Audio Asylum and Audio Circle. They can get a bit FOTM but can be a good starting pont to sift through the data you will come across when trying to find speakers. And read some RMAF reports on different sites. Many times a highlighted budget model is worth checking out.

For $3k speaker only budget without amps, you are going to find a decent amount of stuff that can be quite good, especially if used. For example a good $3k speaker can be the equivalent of the Senn 650s. Very good with budget stuff and it scales well. Senn 800 are more like $10k plus in the speakers world.

You have a lot to think about, stand mount, floor, near field, room placement, efficiency, WAF, etc. Some brands over the years that have impressed me with a model or two in that range or a bit higher: B&W, Devore, Legacy, Von Schweikert, Silverline, and Ryan. Some discontinued manufacturers that made great stuff: SP Technologies, Dunlavy, ADS, CIZEK and another great one from Wyoming that I cannot remember. EDIT: Aha, Reimer Speakers from WY. freaking outstanding for the price, but you never see them used.

I you are not a bass freak these two are standouts: Silverline Monitor Minuet Supreme and Legacy Studio HD

Thanks everyone, yeah I know finding speaker is a lot more work than headphone because its have a lot more types than headphone but right now I think I will focus on floorstanding speaker, now I like magnepan 0.7 as zonto suggested. I see it get very good review from many place. Still, there are a lot of option if go (box) speaker like GoldenEar triton that also get good review on many site.

My room size is 4*6 meter. I'm not bass head I value more in mid and vocal, that's part of the reason I'm looking at magnepan since many review states that it produce soundstage, vocal, and other acoustic instruments better than anything in the price. If that's true then maybe its an easy choice since that's most of what I value, but I'm not sure how box speaker will compare since there are SOoo muchh box speaker in the market that get good review and still in my budget.

There's no substitute for just going out and listening. I would try and visit as many local shops as you can to get an idea of what you like.

If this isn't an option, Magnepan does offer a home trial period on many models if you'd like to check them out.

I have never found a review web site that I like as much as Innerfidelity for headphones that was for speakers unfortunately even within their sister web sites such as Stereophile. In fact, many review web sites suffer from better is always more expensive, and even Innerfidelity suffers from this somewhat. I wish they would review more reasonably priced gear too. Nonetheless, the only forum that I have liked for speakers although focused on home theater more so than just 2-channel audio is hometheatershack.com. They have some nice software that is available also for free called Room EQ Wizard (REW). It is a little quirky, but for the price of a calibrated mic it really does a good job of determining how your speakers and room interact with each other. I have within the last year or so gotten rid of my 5.1 speakers, and I only do 2-channel speakers now (not even with a separate subwoofer). Although, my speakers each include an integrated powered sub to be fair. Nonetheless, due to this I have not been on hometheatershack.com probably in over a year or so. In fact, it was through my room testing that I discovered how much fidelity I was losing, and my love affair with headphones really took off. I still love listening to my speakers, but I'm a lot more realistic about the levels of sonic accuracy that they can achieve. I also was not interested in turning my main speaker listening area into an anechoic chamber (read: look like some odd space ship with acoustic panels attached to the walls and bulky bass traps at various locations to even out the room's sound influences). Nonetheless, they seemed like a pretty level headed bunch with not the typical hype train that most forum web sites suffer from. YMMV
