Everyone thinks the 325 is the screechy one, but the rare HF-1 is the true icepick.

Cool thread! I am now a hardcore Grado fan, since running the GH2's for more than three years.

I go through a lot of 'phones and just sell on the ones I don't care for. Right now I am having a hell of a time moving a certain pair of closed backs. In desperation I reached out and offered to trade them for a pair of RS2e's. Now I am a little excited to try them with some of TTVJ's deluxe flats. Of course up here In Canada I will be paying Well over $100.00 for that pleasure.

I figured my next pair of Grado's would be the GS3000e's, when money allowed. Now I am very curious about this set-up. I run my GH2's on Beautiful Audio pads which are super comfortable and the sound is great to me.

I won't bother discussing much about how I bought and sold two pairs each of the HD600's and HD6XX's. Really not my thing.:D

The new Grado F-cushions (found on their X series) seem to be better than the TTVJ pads - less outright bassy but with lower extension.. Will report back after SR225X review. (Will try the new F-cushions on the RS2e).

And the new F-cushions are a fair bit cheaper too, at $32.50pr.

And Rich Grado just confirmed that they will fit the RS2e's.

No I am not with Grado. These links were posted on head fi Grado Fan Club today and several of us saw them. You could go directly to these pages on their main site, but Grado has taken them down for some reason. Probably only meant to be seen by dealers.

They new Reference Series looks amazing to me. The RS2-X is very similar to the Grado Hemp but with the additional layer of maple on the outer ring. Yes that is right, the RS2-X has a maple layer at drivers, then hemp chamber, then top outer ring of maple.

The RS1-X has a maple layer at drivers, then hemp chamber, the top outer ring of cocobolo wood. They look amazing.

The new wood combo and shaping does look very very nice.

Description says new and improved drivers with lower distortion. finally

Why you rollin’ your eyeballs there @spoony ? :)

Ah, not an eye roll, just staring up, this is one of the most interesting developments in Grado-land.

I bet the RS2X will be better with the F- cushion pads than the RS1X. Just a hunch.

I'm interested to see how these are received. The melding of various woods feels both gimmicky and brilliant all at once. I might've preferred an entirely Cocobolo RS1x and the driver in the picture is protruding from the wood housing, which was sort of an issue previously. I like the effort to innovate, though.
