I have placed my order for the Sennheiser HD 800 S headphones, but they may not be in stock until the middle of February. I want to have those in house to compare to the HiFiMan Edition X. So depending on how soon you start this, I may not be ready to be the first stop... in case you were thinking of shipping it to Seattle before the Midwest or East Coast.

 

Cool, can't wait to hear your impressions of the HD800s. Have you or do you own the original HD800? It would be great to hear your impressions and comparisons between the 2. I would like to hear the HD800s to compare to my HD800 Z28 mod that @purrin made for me with the resonators he put in them - just to see if there is a difference between the two, even have measurements of both the HD800s compared to the HD800 Z28 mod. If they are the same or pretty darn close in measurements, you could save a lot of money by using purrin's Z28 Mod.

 

I am new to the high resolution headphone game, so the HD 800 S is my first audiophile headphone purchase. I won't have anything to compare the HD 800 S to for now except the Edition X as part of the loaner program. The Edition X is only $100 more, so it will be interesting.

I will be using my Mac Mini to my Yggdrasil, and then probably to a Ragnarok... which I was going to buy while on the waiting list for a Studio, but now I have been delaying the Rag purchase due to the talk of new Schiit being announced soon. Oh well, my bet is the new Schiit will be a 2-channel pre-amp and amplifier line first, with headphone amps coming in 2017. I do hope Schiit issues a press release soon regarding this.

 

Still looking forward to your impressions with the HD800s. (wish I had a Yggdrasil )

Separate job? I don't get paid for this one! lol But I love it so much I don't mind nor do I expect to get paid for this. I do it for the love of the site and our members.
