High Efficiency Speakers for Flea Watt and low powered amps

Having owed and sold many different speakers over the years, favorites avantguard, altec 604, reference 3a, tannoy big boys these speakers are really good. Louis has gotten something very right for this 6.5inch single driver is beautiful, bass well defined with punch and details they lose impact around 50hz( using Rel T5sub) mids are engaing, clear with space around instruments, top end is extended and sweet. I have about 160 hours where I played them very lound with bass slamming house music. They play with the Studio B beautifully. Very Happy

 

Can you be more specific about which speakers from his list you are referring to are not great on SET amps?

Except the Orcas and Jaeger, I can give you at least 2 examples for each speaker in that list that our residents eventually ended up with, because they found it to work well with low or low-ish power SET amps. Even the Jaeger was built from ground up by Bottlehead to be a good electrical match with their SET amps.

I am not denying what you are saying. But you may be assuming that the OP doesn’t understand the implications of impedance and other factors.

 

I read the article, and had the opposite takeaway - there’s not nearly enough speakers listed in this thread that are good matches with tube amps, SETs and other low-watt (tube or solid state) amps!
