For between use and storage, I use these Iris stacking drawers from BB&B:
    https://www.bedbathandbeyond.com/store/product/iris-reg-7-qt-stacking-drawers-set-of-4/3300374

There are two sizes there: The shorter ones are perfect for Sennheisers, Beyers, and smaller. The larger ones (which I can't currently find on the BB&B website) are good for larger AKGs, ATs, and the bigger Sennheiser (HD800). They are taller, a hair wider, and shallower- sort of a square bottom. The shorter drawers have a stop that prevents you from accidentally pulling the entire drawer out. The taller drawers do not have this, so you have to be a bit careful when taking out the cans- or you can just slide the whole drawer out and put it down. I put a square of velcro at the end of the drawer (inside) to keep it from accidentally opening in the event of an earthquake or whatever. I also double-side taped all of the drawer stacks (just the corners) and have the whole thing strapped down to the Metro rack that it's on. This keeps it perfectly stable when opening/closing the drawers, plus the earthquake thing.

That's perfect! I think's it's the most optimal way to store headphones.

I like to store my not-currently-used 'phones at someone else's house, while storing some of formerly-their money in my wallet.:drunk:

For storage I use the original boxes as I keep them for any headphones. And for my headphone stand I use the one pictured below (LINK):

I like that stand better than the Woo Audio I use that cost 3X as much as it looks like the curvature would fit the headband of my HD800S better ... also storage space for cable. Thanks for the link first time I have seen that Acase brand.

It came up randomly in the "Related to items you've viewed" section on Amazon and I loved the look of it. For $26 bucks I had to give it a shot.

Storage space for the cable makes that one a winner! I've got one of these under-desk anchors which does the job for two pairs of headphones, but then I'm left with a lot of stray cabling in coils on the desk.

Usually we say "Go to the generally advice thread."

Thing is, you already did some research so I can relate. When you are into details (a.k.a. O.C.D. about getting things right) the least you can do is share your relevant findings. Hence my appreciative like.

Also, we have search function that goes fairly in-depth. The affordable IRIS cabinets/storage systems are great value for money. I have those too. See the link here for more options in the U.S.: https://www.walmart.com/c/brand/iris-filing-cabinets

+1 on IRIS products. I use one for extra PC related cable storage as I seem to have a million of them. THIS ONE I got from Amazon has 2 large drawers that could easily fit 2 pairs of headphones each and leave the other 2 drawers for misc items.

Nice, wish I had known about these. I went with knock-off omega stands from Alibaba, about $23 per in bulk, and organza bags to hold the cables for the ones that don't detach. Probably about the same cost as yours but I like the leather look better.

I keep the stands in a built-in cabinet, detachable cables are in labeled pouches underneath the headphones. Doors close with child-proof magnetic locks to keep out dust, prying eyes and prying wives.

I really like the look of the Omega stands, and that is an extremely well organized collection my friend. Kudos.

Is that the 'original' omega stand ? I love the para dissing the knock-off vendors at the bottom of the page.

Oh, actually I don’t know if it real or not. I haven’t even thought about that. The stand came with my used HD800. I’ll look into this when I get back home.

It’s very stable though and I haven’t found any ”rough surfaces”.

Original Sieveking Omega headphone stands at Elusivedisc.com in the US go for $180 - $200. I think I'd buy the Rooms Audio stand over the original Omegas at half the price if I wanted a solid wood stand.

They also offer a 4X heavier FS Pro version in steel:

Even the image you posed above is a veneered plywood, just like the Chinese knock-offs. Much easier/cheaper to make them that way.

@allegro, I wouldn't see the point of buying the name brand in this case either.

@hellwhynot nailed it. Putting headphones on a stand puts undue wear on some part of the headphone, be it pads, headband or both. Laying them flat is the best way to store headphones for longevity, although they do take up more space.

Some dings to the paintjob might be resulted in placing headphones on a hard surface, but I’m not that worried about such things. HD800 is most prone to this, though.
