IC: Focal Electra 1028 & Kinki EX-M7

$1950 Kinki EX-M7 - This thing is bonkers good. I impulse bought some used Kudos Cardea C30 at a price that I could not ignore. So, I needed a good amp to power them and took a leap into this amp. It is very, very good. Like for real, it's exceptionally good and a perfect match for the Kudos. My current living situation is only temporary so my reference amp, Audia Flight FLS-4 is crated up and in storage. I was using this Kinki as a "sacrificial" amp so I did not have to uncrate my FLS-4. But, if someone wants the EX-M7 the responsible thing for me to do is to sell it and risk using my FLS-4. I will probably buy some mono block Kinki EX-B7 down the road anyway.

$3700 Focal Electra 1028 Be Walnut finish - I am the original owner of these. They are easy 9/10 condition and essentially perfect. I take exceptional care of my stuff. They have been in storage for 9 months. Before storing, I thoroughly wrapped the boxes in plastic wrap for storage protection and to be ready in case I decided to sell them. I put new desiccant packs in each as well.

I want to try the Kudos and Focal side by side. They are different, but one is not necessarily better than the other. However, before I unbox the Focal and take the plastic wrap off I just want to see if anyone is interested in them. They are packed to ship so I don't want to undo/redo that if I don't have to. One should buy my used Electra instead of any Aria series. I tried them all and ended up with the 1028 Be back in September 2014. The newer Kanta series is ugly AF and only slightly better than the Electra 1028. You don't really get a useful improvement until you get a Sopra and that is serious money.

 

A bump on this as I prepare to take my Focals out of the boxes and try them with the Kinki EX-M7. I learned something since the original post. The Kinki EX-M7 is a better match for the smooth, mid-range focused, massive bass capability of the Kudos Cardea C-30 than my FLS-4. So much so that I am about to impulse buy the EX-B7 monos like an idiot. I have to see how the EX-M7 does with the Focal before I do anything, but I have definitely been bitten by the bug again such that I think I may start over from scratch.
