After what felt like an eternity of rehashed Google news snippets Innerfidelirt published two proper, nicely-written headphone reviews in as many weeks, LCD4z and HD820. Plus a write-up on Sonarworks' nifty community research project (that is if you can stand the nauseating looped audio).

Maybe worth checking in more often from now on ...

You're kidding me right? I don't even think he spends much time listening to the headphones,

The 2 reviews you mentioned are just sponsor pleasing ''everything is awesome'' verbal diarrhoea without a shred of critical merit. I've lifted some stuff from the 2 reviews so everyone can throw up in their mouths a little.

some more tonal color, but they still retain their coherence and literal translational ability that in the end is about faithfully reproducing the recorded event without artifice or flourish: they keep it real. They are to me, first and foremost, possessed of one of the most linear frequency responses (12Hz~43.8kHz -3dB) I’ve come across.

the Sennheiser uses an iron grip on its drivers to maintain order amid the chaos to allow her subtle vocal inflections to maintain its connection to your mind’s eye.

appealing to my intellectual requirements for tonal and timbral accuracy,

The 4z is an amazing music translator and energizes the recorded event to a level of “in-the-room” resolution and realism

new nugget of sonic information, detail or go that extra mile in timbral and tonal realism

with so much rhythm, ebb and flow to its musical presentation that it’s impossible to not be floated along like a feather on a breeze before it.

LCD-4z is just as at home with an iPhone or DAP while you’re at work, out for a walk or running errands as it is in a multi-thousand-dollar home rig.

Enjoyable as this 4z is with less-committed sonic setups like your phone, every step up the ladder to a more dedicated audiophile listening experience proved to reveal more and more detail, space, tonal and timbral shadings, textural nuances and spatial cues from the recorded musical event. They are incredibly linear in their response, with outstanding treble, midrange and bass that never stick out on their own, rather they coalesce into a single defining entity that reshapes disparate musical bits into an analog whole.

Anybody on earth running errands with the $4000, 600 gram LCD4-Z ???

I don't want to see anyone lose their livelihood but if there was ever a case to start a petition to have someone removed from a position for the good of our hobby this is it.

This guy lives to write advertisements for the sponsors and take pretty pictures. That's the only reason he was put there.

IF is dead to me. I would hate to read such saccharinated love prose written about my product. Not only would it not be true (I know what sucks about the stuff I'm peddling), but it wouldn’t get the marketing effect I expect from well-written reviews.

False pretences sir! I object strongly.

I thought I was going to read news that R***** has been sacked or fallen under a bus or something. Instead, I am subjected to his "literal translational ability." Otherwise known as liquid crap.

    Consider yourself castigated!
