Has anyone here actually tried a bunch of music players on their iphone/ipad/ios device? Does anyone have a clear favorite between say Kaisertone, Iaudiogate, among others?

Tried most of them but Neutron player is my go to. Has resampling which actually works very well.

Does neutron support album art in folders nowadays? Even when the tracks themselves are not embedded with art?

Do any of these players have finer volume control than the stock Music player.

    Android user here.

Poweramp (which is also on iOS) gives the option of allowing volume adjustment in the alpha test build to reach all the way up to 100 steps— I settled for 50. Not sure if the same can be done for iOS though.

As for SQ differences my main comparisons were between Poweramp (which is what I've been using for the last little while because I like the UX) and Neutron. To my ears Neutron was just a tad brighter in the upper register, but not necessarily more detailed— I ended up going back to PAmp after a couple weeks. The differences between Google Music and PAmp are indiscernible to me, but unlike Neutron I didn't actually go out of my way to compare them.

When you say you have yet to see a player as good as that for IOS, does that include iaudiogate by KORG or Kaisertone?

Neutron supports dsd and upconversion and gets album work from the web. Try the trial player to compare.

I hope it doesn’t overwrite my own album art which is already perfect. Didn’t realize there was a trial version. I’ll look for that.
