Is there some kind of discussions on music streamers, at recommendations?

I'm hearing about using audio streamers to play of local (NAS, USB, SDcard, etc) and internet streaming services.
Understand that it potentially could give very high quality playback vs CD playback, with all its conveniences on content browsing and management.

I'm keen on setting on a simple streamer with either Aries mini, bluesound node 2 or anything (desktop) that costs about the same
What I don't know yet, is user experiences of these devices with streaming services providers, drawbacks, limitations.
Searching on streamers yield very little info.

Hopefully this thread, if useful, could gather in good info for newbies like me to start such setups.
