Koss Porta Pro, now in 5 color styles

I figured this headphone is really very high performing for it's price even after so many years of headphone tech advancements, so here's a thread for discussing this headphone marvel.

 

I still need to hear these.

 

Oh boy, that black-gold and white-gold color scheme are nice! Suits wearing it while playing Warframe. Porta Pro Prime!

IMO this headphone is one of the most potent gateway drug to this hobby.
I remembered hearing this many years ago for the first time at a friend's place; just a barebone setup of Porta Pro playing a 384 mp3 from a Sansa Clip.
A very, very enlightening experience of how bad a music sounds out of a PC's default headphone-out + $4 no-brand headset

 

I prefer the KSC-75 or KSC-35 with the Parts Express headband. The KSC-35 uses the same drivers as the PortaPro. The KSC-75 is very close to the KSC-35 and a lot cheaper. For less than $20 you can get the KSC-75 and this:

Throw away the PE drivers and snap in the Koss. Best ridiculously cheap headphone I've ever heard.

 

I always felt the 35 was a different, more neutral, sound and that the 75 and porta pro are the same with a more u shaped eq sound.

 

I'm curious and going to give this a try. Thanks for the Parts Express headband link, crazychile.
