In a nutshell, I think it's better to disclose if review equipment was facilitated by the vendor, and if there was any sort of compensation for the review. But I don't think it's absolutely necessary. As always, use common sense when reading online content. No need to take a crap on SBAF or even Discord. Move away from toxic situations, and have fun with friends.

    Alright folks. Closing this thread.

It does sadden me too that folks like OJ and Psalm are not around. I definitely miss OJ's insights. Psalm's were a bit more iffy because it always seemed his impressions were based on a ten second analysis, and we never saw any pictures of proof that he ever had any piece of gear that he talked about in depth on a long term basis - but nevertheless I liked to read what he had to say and I understood where he came from.

Crap on the gear, call out shilling, but there's no need to make things toxic. Saying things that are flat out untrue is a no-no. Nobody is a saint. Pointing out character flaws of people is also out-of-bounds - unless these character flaws involved people stealing from other members, people making one+ year loans to themselves without permission, or using the CS/SBAF name to making side deals for themselves behind my back.

It comes down to skillful means. Perhaps a simple inquiry such as "So, how much of a discount did you get on them?" would have been more effective.
