wow, now splitting hairs over $14? talk about Fking pointless.

drop the Verb trolling. period. it has no relevance on SBAF and only invites flames based on innuendo, rumor or conspiracy theory. (Mulder)

repeat after me: SBAF doesn't need to see identification. These are not the IEMs you are looking for.
You can go about your business.
    move along.

What's a "fake" review? One does not even have to have bought an item from Amazon to review it. I have done so recently. My review is sincere, and warns against exceeded the stated-in-the-instructions limitations of a kitchen gadget, because, if one does, it will die, like mine did. I even mentioned in the review that I did not purchase from Amazon: Amazon had no way to determine whether I actually owned the device or not. Even Google probably didn't know that at the time --- although it probably does now.

I think he means the little "verified purchaser" tag that amazon has. That cannot be faked, as it is linked to the buyer's/seller's transaction.

They were going to retail for $159. The design was actually an el cheapo sold by BHPhoto about 5 years ago. But remember, it was 'designed to be paired with the Geek Wave", so technically, nobody has ever heard it the way it was meant to be . Why they bother defending it at this point is beyond me.

OK, now I see that on reviews for products I bought, but not on products that I did not buy. But still, anybody can post a review. If I am reading Amazon reviews (crazy, reckless fool that I sometimes am) I don't only look at the ones with that tag.

It's clear that they didn't design a thing and had their sights set on getting $159 for a $25 earphone. I triple-dog-dare them to send a set off to Tyll or any other reviewer worth their salt.

I actually like the verbs better than the Apple buds. Not perfect but do the job on the go, from the phone, pretty sturdy and I will not cry if I lose them. Almost thinking to get a second pair for when this ones give up the ghost. For 179 would have gotten something else. For 30, not too shabby.

It's actually not, it's now being fire sold on Amazon with fake reviews for cheaper then it was crowfunded for.

Not to mention it wasn't even there design, it was a company called Xuma. They probably licensed the design and made some tweaks to it that never happened . Xuma earphones were being sold on bnH since 2011.

You seem like a pretty objective guy Marv, why continue to drink the lhlabs koolaid when it is so obvious they are at fault.

    PS.
Glad to see all that crowd funding money is going towards Tesla model s and sound system upgrades instead of the unreleased products Casey

Did not listen to the Pistons :( but find the Tenors from the leather-board list being less comfy, flimsier and with a sounds that is not much different. Have no dog in this fight so whatever.

Amazon already went after companies that specialized in "Amazon Reviews" as a service. For the individual review writers, Amazon did their investigation the old fashioned way. The setup sting operations with Amazon employees acting as buyers interested in having someone post reviews. Not sure which law was broken by those 1000+ people, though.
EDIT: I guess civil suits, but over what? Libel? Misrepresentation?

It's a variety of breach of contract. Amazon has an obvious pecuniary interest in the reviews that visitors can read when making buying decisions; accurate reviews add value to Amazon, false reviews indirectly affect their sales. They have use agreements and waivers designed to protect this. So the argument goes something like "you told us this review was honest and accurate, you lied and actually made money by selling your review to company x, and by doing so you negatively affect our brand (etc)" and if the defendants say "bullshit, you can't prove your damages," Amazon responds, "double bullshit, you were able to make money selling your review".

It's still a hard standard, but the goal is to drive up costs for small players so they cut it out.

Confusing. Who are the parties to the contract?

There is no contract between Amazon and the review-writing services. But I guess there is a contract, with terms and conditions'n'all, between Amazon and the sellers who employ the review-writers.
