Tired of the blinding white LEDs on your Schiit gear? You can correct it for $6.99 with a set of Light Dims Silver Edition stickers from Amazon. You get a sheet of various sizes here is before on my Eitr:

And after applying the Light Dim:

The silver matches the Schiit finish OK and dims the light by at least 80% very welcome cheap tweak.

Hint: use tweezers to place the films. I just eyeballed using fingers.

I do think the Light Dims are more useful. I just covered all three LEDs on my Bimby what a difference. I never understood why Schiit had to use such powerful LEDs in the first place; there must be less bright options.

I was just kidding - I recall jason mentioning he just bought the brightest LED's he saw, figuring brighter was better. I think the new ones are a little less blinding.

Will see when my Loki gets here next week. I have a Vali 2 with an LED so bright I had to use two of the films to dim it down to a normal level. That sucker was blindingly bright. Sure you should be able to tell a unit is turned on but really. Has there been a contest to see who can source the brightest LEDs:)

I use the originals. I found I really had to use three. Before them, if fell asleep downstairs I didn’t need any lighting other than my Schiit gear to see in the room in the not so dark to make it up the stairs.

Just noticed this thread. I listen in a bedroom, often in the dark, and find the LEDs light up the room far too much myself. I had some seam tape kicking around and thought it would work well for this purpose https://www.homedepot.com/p/3M-1-88-in-x-55-yds-Red-Construction-Seaming-Tape-8087/202077776 . Red just happens to be a good color to not disturb your circadian rhythms as well.

As mentioned above, you can tune the brightness of the LEDs with the number of layers, I find about six works well. The tape is very sticky so tweezers are a must. I layer them together on some backing first, then put it on the devices.

Voila, nice dim pinkish-red LEDs. Unfortunately my phone camera overexposes them so they look brighter than they really are, but rest assured they are far more pleasant in a dark room this way. And of course it's totally reversible, though after getting hot in use for a while you may need an alcohol swab to clean off some glue if you remove it.

Nice to see they've got silver now. I bought their black ones a while ago and am still using the sheet I got. They also sent a bonus few as well, including a written note that it is a small family business deal yada yada. Overall, very happy with these.

I think the answer is "because: fuck you" or somesuch. They need their fun too, you know.

Still, always nice to see Lightdims getting a mention- they are more expensive that snipping bits off your old insulating tape, but also much tidier- worth the modest price.

What was fun is that when I sent my Gumby in for the Gen 5 USB upgrade, the UK dealer not only managed to get the case on properly with the LEDs lined up, but didn't lose any of the Lightdims that I'd put over them. I was impressed with that.

Aligning those LEDs is a feat indeed. I've popped open my Gungnir enough times to test things to get it down pretty well. I like the 'chop stick' method myself.
