    I spoke with Tim from HOLO Audio and we're being offered a MAY KTE for a loaner. But it is a big DAC, two boxes inside one big box. So shipping might be expensive esp with insurance. I'll only do a loaner if 10 or more people express solid interest, and basically commit to it (short of something in real life getting in the way).

    So sign up here if you want it to happen and I'll keep this list for the official loaner if we get enough interest.

    I should say no... because I can't imagine ever spending that kind of $$ on a dac... but I want to hear if I'm missing anything by using the Spring2KTE... I'm in, assuming late October (or later) delivery

    I own both (different locations). You are missing something in fine detail, dynamics, and overall realism, but with HQP the difference is not huge. Meaning that I'm not feeling an urge to upgrade the Spring 2.

    edit: lol at the list - it almost reads like the "sbaf i want to become orfas club".

    real orfas would just blind buy, dealer demo 5 tracks with whisky before buying, or buy a $50k+ sUpeR duPer ExCLusivE boutique swiss DAC if located in "global / emerging markets". :D

    Not a big deal since we aren't ORFAS and 99.99% of high-rollers are happy with their existing sources or everyone who wants a May already has one. It's a total 0.18 members with the ability to actually purchase that will actually miss out. Member curiosity isn't sufficient to have high-dollar loaners. Not worth the expense, insurance, and risk of losing this via FedEx or UPS which is crappy these days. The awesome thing about SBAF is knowing and trusting members. If @earnmyturns says it's 2.34% more plankton and immediacy than Spring 2, then that's good enough for me. I can pass.
