Loaner: Grado RS1X

Look at all these noobs who’ve never heard Grados! It would be unthinkable back in the day.

How are the SBAF coffers? Is it too crazy to try to send a RS2X along with them? I'd love to hear comparisons... Resale value on either should be pretty good still if SBAF gets stuck with a Grado hoard. (We don't have a Hemp circulating, do we?)

 

I'm currently saving for a used Holo Spring 3 KTE for loan and I don't think an RS2 is in the cards until we sell some of the current loaners.

Especially not for an RS2 which historically sounds very very similar to the RS1. They used to sound basically the same.

 

Not anymore, not since “e” version. RS1e went to a bigger driver to add some differentiation.

 

I would love to hear these. I am in San Francisco

Since @purr1n said he’ll be getting an RS2x for review Im cancelling my spot to be on RS1x loaner. Im much more interested in RS2x (with f-pads). If there is not an RS2x loaner that is fine since I think I can glean enough from the review (combined with past RS2e experience) to make a decision to buy.

I contacted Shipibo Audio to ask if their pads will fit RS1x. The answer was yes. Might be worth adding to tour. Should warm the RS1x tone right up and increase comfort. Atleast that was my experience with similar Beautiful Audio pads (but they are way more expensive).

edit: Shared this thread with Shipibo. Told them to contact admins purr1n or rhythmdevils for adding earpads to tour for review.

That sounds fantastic, thank you for getting in touch. I'd love to send a pair to hear some honest opinions from the SBAF crowd.
Especially that RS1 has the reputation of being the brightest/sharpest sounding Grado, while our pads are made for a more mellow/warm sound signature, so I'm sure there will be a noticeable change in the sound, I'm very curious to know if people like it.​

I was told that while they will fit, Shipibo Audio earpads have not been designed / tested for the RS1x so satisfaction not guaranteed.

My hunch is theyll be a welcome upgrade.

@purr1n will try the pads with his RS1e.
