interesting! depending on when this loaner takes place, i'd love to jump on. the tricky part is i'm moving from the bay area to pasadena in a month, so it'll depend on when this happens.

 

I won't be in the US between Christmas and mid-January, hopefully that won't cause too much of a scheduling fiasco.

 

P.s. guys the amp is coming from Canada. On the way back up we'll probably want to wrangle some sort of Seattle/Vancouver hop, or a New York to Montreal/Toronto something something.

 

I can facilitate a transfer into the US after Christmas. Although, getting the goods to the US is not a problem. There're no import fees there. Getting the amp back to Canada will result in fees. Shipping it to me will result in a 5 % GST added. I can work with the last US borrower on this if needed.

FedEx International Ground is actually surprisingly inexpensive for cross-border shipping. It's fast too.

That's why I was thinking if we had anyone from Seattle/Vancouver, then the transition would be easy as it could be driven over without all the hassle. Or maybe just issue an RMA to whoever the last person on the US side of the tour is.

 

Also, Fishski will be sending me the QRV08 from Sjostrom to compare alongside the HP-1. If there are interested parties it may be sent out alongside the HP-1 (now who's got an O2 to throw in? haha).

I know the QRV08 has already made the rounds at chang/sbaf, but I figured it would be an interesting head-to-head as they are both surface mount DIY amps, though Tom's distortion numbers are good order of magnitude better.

 

I admittedly had not thought about that, but I don't think it would make a significant difference in shipping cost? People can chime in individually. Folks who would like both can get them together and we can lump them first in the tour, and end it with Fishski who can send out the HP-1 on it's own after that.

 

Been going back and forth, but I'd be down to try this out if it's still available?

Ok for those on the list, is there anyone who does not want to check out the QRV08? I've got both in house at the moment. Very interesting flipping between the two of them.
