I see what you did @rhythmdevils, anyway to get me and @shotgunshane near last so he can hear then would be great. :p

@crenca since you are getting more into IEMs does this mean I can buy your Focals for $50 shipped? ;)

    Update from Soranik:

They will have an order page up on their website soon but until then or instead, you can order their iem’s by pm’ing @tranhieu , the Soranik rep here on SBAF. All SBAF members get a 20% discount and those participating in the loaners get a 25% discount. That makes the Bastille 900$ which is a really good price for that iem.

So if you have any interest you should sign up for one of the loaners.

    Note:
I’ve combined the 3 Soranik iem loaner tours into 2 tours. So this is now a 3 iem tour which includes the Versailles as well. See first post for the list of 3 iem’s included and details.

I’m also going to extend the time per person to (roughly) 5-10 days since it’s 3 iem’s at once. Don’t sweat an additional few days if needed.

insure for 1900$ now. (That’s half the total cost of these three)

I'd like to sign up for this loaner. Located in FL, I never received the Sony M7 loaner though.. Not sure how these work (or don't work because of me?) >.>

Haha. The Sony M7 loaner hasn’t started yet it got delayed because of Purrin’s move. It will happen eventually. This one is going to start ASAP though. And you’re welcome to join. Do you want all 6 or just these 3?

    Ohh okay.

I would like the 3 you listed in OP. Interested in hearing the one you described with the least amount of BA timbre.

I've always been curious about the 'BA timbre' people mention, especially in the West. Here in Asia everyone seems to be fine with it apparently, some even love it.

We started off working on the iON-4 and above with that in mind. However, since our test music is 80% or more Asian it is unlikely we fully understand where the source of the problem is. It'd be helpful if more people can chime in. :)

As others have said, perhaps the best way to hear it is to listen to drums. It turns all the nuance of drum strikes into "clank clank clank" - real drums end up sounding like a digital simplification. The BA attack/decay speed is part of it but not all of it IMO.

To me its the lack of texture, which I think is the lack of micro dynamics. With BAs you miss the texture from the subtle vibrations of say a bowed cello.

I realized how much it bothered me when I heard the Blessing 2. I would rather listen to the Starfield than the Blessing 2, but my favorite iem so thus far is definitely the FDX1. Not to deny the detail retrieval of BA, I just have to suspend my belief too much vs a dynamic driver.

Southeast Asian here. I think what Asians like about it is the artificially fast speed of BA drivers, which makes "sweet female vocals" sound more clear and crystal-like, and gives the illusion that the drivers are more revealing ("detailed") than they really are. Plus alot of Asian pop is not very well recorded, so they aren't wrong in thinking that most of the details in their music was reproduced, cos there isn't that much in the first place.

The kit arrived. I won’t be able to start listening until Sunday but looking forward to it.
