Hello everyone, I am likely going to be getting an open box and discounted BW 802 D4 and would like some advice on amps. I would prefer a tub amp and was looking at the MC 275. 802s have a recommended power range o 50-500 watts. The MC 275 deliver only 75W. Is this a poor pairing? My budget would be around $10k but this is not a hard limit. Open for more options if its worth the price. Would also be happy to hear any recommendations or advice on pairing the 802s. Ideally with a tube amp but I can also go with solid state if that is a better option.

Music: Classical, soundtrack, heavy metal. Preference for forward/aggressive/brighter sound, instrumental separation and clarity.

This will mainly be used in our living room as a listening room for me and home theater for everyone else.

    Thanks all.

I would suggest finding a dealer near ish you and test things out. Unless you have a dealer who will let you audition at home. I love the Classé with the 802's. But I don't want to tell you my preference for a 10k+ purchase and have you hating my guts! Like, I like marantz sound, they have a 10k and 15k integrated option. But I don't know if you would like it....
Edited to point out that Classé is much more than 10k.

fwiw, my friend has a pair of older 802s that he pairs with a Bryston amp that is around 300 watts. Over the years, it has gone from brightish to rather smooth and a tad laid back in the mids due to his cables, tweaks and Ayre dac.

I own an MC 275V and it is a fine amplifier when operated within its limits. I’m afraid that if you listen at realistic levels the amp will be struggling on the peaks and with dense passages found in some orchestral music.

The McIntosh MC 2301 at 300 wpc would be more in line with what you need.
