Mini-Meet - Saturday 9/3/2016 Sherman Oaks 11 to 4

OK, I can bring Slants with balanced cable. I can bring LFF Enigmas too if anyone wants. (Man I am bringing too much gear now!)

 

I don't have Slants but I can bring the original Paradox (balanced only) if anyone is curious to hear that paired with the Jotunheim.

Looks like I'll be there from 11 to 1, then I'll have to get home to pack more.

I wish I could have stayed the whole time, but it was so nice to meet many of the people I've chatted with on here and of course equally nice to see again the people I've met before.

Quick impressions are that I love the Utopia and would sell all my other headphones to buy it if I thought that it would actually make it affordable, which sadly it wouldn't. They sounded incredible through the T3 hooked up to a Theta CD player. Pitch black background and clear, detailed reproduction.

I also had a great time chatting with @schiit and loved the sound of the mystery product. I look forward to seeing what comes of that in the future.

Also @Bill-P's HD580 wowed me with terrific bass quality and quantity. I would like to try a similar mod on my 600 to see if I get equally good results.

really curious about that ifi ican pro thingy. Glad it will be there for a good assessment.

 

Fun meet today, thanks to the SBAF staff for putting it together and everyone who brought gear.

The Focal Utopia's through the Schiit Yggdrasil / EC Zana Deux was probably the star of the meet. The Utopia's sounded pretty good through everything else, they just didn't shine as bright. Was also really impressed how good the Mr Speaker Ether Flow sounded through the mystery item Jason brought. The older Ether C sounded terrible with my home setup, this seems like a big leap forward. Also got to hear some other headphones I haven't yet tried but wanted to hear, such as the HD800S and Audio Zenith PMX2. Good times!

 

I ended up not taking it as no-one expressed an interest - but if anyone in the SoCal area wants to hear it, drop me a line. I should probably write a review, it's a good amp!

 

ughghg I have been wanting some more info on that thing for ages and decided not to grab it until it gets properly assessed. Im glad you had a good time. Meets are always fun. SoCal always has a lot of meets. You guys are lucky down there. I am jealous.
