They do that with Windows servers where I used to work.

My Modi Multibit has never been powered off since I got it and I have never had an issue, that has only been about 6 months though. I only use coax and never change inputs so that might have something to do with it.

I was thinking reboot as soon as I read the first line, lol. I guess that is tbe IT guy in me though.

I thought you go Etir -> Modi Multibit -> Vali2?

Yep, that's the chain at work.

That silly Modi Multibit has scared me twice now. I dread the day the tube in my Vali 2 dies.

That ringing issue happens so infrequently that we all forget about it and freak out all over again every time.

I think it happened twice in as many weeks several months ago, and then not a peep since. Though I did reboot when I did the FW version test last month.

(Edited for early morning autocomplete snafus)

Here's a view of the back. Looks like they're moving to Micro USB, which should make it easier to connect to phones/tablets

Also interesting that there are Digital inputs with just a Modi 3 label, and no other additional version tags (ie. "uber"). Hope this is following the simplification through elimination of variants, a la Magni 3.

Kinda weird the pics are on the Modi 2 page. I wonder if that's intentional? @schiit @baldr ?

This is a leak. They haven't even announced the product yet.

Looks like it can be powered using a micro usb.

Modi 3 huh? Will they discontinue Modi 2 and 2U? Figures since I ordered a 2U yesterday for the office rig.

    True, but pictures have leaked.
Modi page has pictures of Modi 3, but menu still says Modi 2, and no other info on the site yet.

If anyone is doubting that Modi 3 exists, the name of the picture on the site is "modi-3-front-1920.jpg".

Looks like they have added S/PDIF input as well as a different port for power if needed. This adds function and better to upsell things like Etir. IMO, these DAC's should have always had S/PDIF inputs.

I wonder if they are integrating the in-house USB solution Baldr was mentioning on his thread here?

Interesting as well that when you look at the product menu on the website now, all the numbering of the headphone amps etc is all gone. They must be dropping the numbering scheme...

Modi 3 is live, and it replaces both Modi 2 and Uber. If you have a 2 or Uber on backorder, you'll get a Modi 3 shipped today. If it's an Uber, you'll get $50 back, since Modi 3 is $99.

    Modi Multibit continues unchanged.

It hasn't served a purpose for some time, other than to clutter up the menu and confuse people. It's also why we don't put numbers on the front of the products anymore. Hence, gone.

I think you'll want us to test this USB implementation THOROUGHLY before we lob it at you. The latest iteration that I have (call it Beta 1) has already had a glitch fix, as well as some additional refinement.

I figured the in-house USB was way too early at this point based on Mike's last note about it. That thing is going to have to be nuclear bomb-proof unless you want to blow up your support team with issues.
