Deadpool was a hoot. It makes lots of fun of these way-too-popular superhero movies. It also goes nicely overboard with the R-rating. Funny & violent, what more can you ask for!

Eye in the Sky was a pretty good film. At times it was tethering on the edge of being too labored, rehashing the same mechanics of bulding tension. Strong performances by Alan Rickman and Helen Mirren certainly helped.

The Big Short was great as well. I think I would have appreciated it a lot more had I been more savvy to the financial nitty gritty stuff. Lots of concepts flew by me, making it hard to understand the subtleties and nuances of the film. The script and screenplay were all top-notch though. Ryan Gosling might be the most one-dimensional actor in hollywood history, but hey as it turns out there aren't a shortage of films which need that type of role, so all power to him.

Recently purchased a fire stick w/ kodi on it. Pretty neat for watching new movies. Watched the tom hanks inferno movie but felt it wasn't one of his better films

A great movie. I mentioned it to my uncle who said he read the book, which in turn got me checking out a few books by Michael Lewis from the library. "Flash Boys" is really good and continues the Wall Street corruption story, but focuses on the electronic trading.

I thought The Big Short did a great job educating the reader/viewer regardless of background. Flash Boys did the same thing.

On the recommendation of @shotgunshane, I got around to watching Sideways. Not my usual type of movie, but it was very tastefully done. Paul Giamatti is a terrific actor. All the performances in this show were great, but Giamatti definitely carried it. It's weird as hell seeing Thomas Hayden Church play that kinda role as well.

Also caught Gone Baby Gone. Directed by Ben Affleck. Starring his brother Casey. I enjoyed it tremendously. Moral ambiguity done absolutely spot on.

I also chanced upon King Arthur (Clive Owen version) by flicking through channels and landing on HBO.

It's one of the worst movies I've ever seen, because the level of cringe is mindblowing. Script was as if written by random kids in high school whom set their minds on making a movie, then caught a LOTR marathon and decided it'd be a great idea to emulate just how epic it was. Cinematography, pacing and even some bits of acting were all over the place. Plot was corny as hell.

But for that same reason, it was one of the greatest movies I've ever seen. It was so bad, you couldn't stop laughing (and cringing).

I agree it's more like a war movie, and a good installment/prequel at that. Battle scenes were very well done (for a Star Wars movie). However, I felt like it was less of a success overall than Force Awakens, mostly due to the lack of character development. I can't even remember the main guy's name that tag teams with Jyn. Integration into the canon and lead-in to A New Hope was commendable too.

Rogue One has its flaws but I thoroughly enjoyed it. The best looking SW film to date IMO.

Ben Mendelson is a superb actor. His involvement, along with Mads Mikkelsen, adds some weight to the more adult themes in this SW offering.

    My major gripe
is the use of CG for Tarkin (?). The uncanny valley is quite evident and distracting.

yeah I do feel like it needed more time spent on characters backstories/motivations. The french dude was Cassian Andor. I liked it more than TFA, TFA is probably a better movie for 13 year olds because there's no real feeling of danger and the characters are all just WHEEEE all the time even when in millenium falcon dogfights
Yeah Tarkin and Leia were both CGI.. I think the tarkin actor is dead

We saw a trailer for Dunkirk last night before Rogue One. Comes out next July and looks awesome.
