That's pretty cool. May have to add this hp back onto my shortlist.

had 5 mins with a pair at work. Color me intrigued. Definite improvement over the regular Ether C. Would need more than 5 mins and more time with something more than a GOV2 to wholeheartedly recommend the 1.1, but it's a step forward.

That's promising. I can't rule out that I just heard a bad pair at RMAF (oh jeez, just so bad), that further tweaks weren't made since besides the front foam, or that the front foam somehow just fixes most of the issues. I think the Ether line in general has untapped potential.

Latest iteration of Ether C is in my regular rotation now. I have been looking for a closed reference flagship that fits my comfort and sound quality preferences. I believe I've finally found it!!

So how many unnumbered / non-versioned tweaks will go into Ether/EtherC before the community is completely confused about which review actually applies across the models or when a supposed next-tweak will be released? And of course newer revisions are unlikely to ever be applied to early adopter models.

    hooray for improvements.
Poo on fragmenting the model beyond comparability.

^^ I don't disagree with your logic. But for me, the first version was good but not quite there. Now the 1.1 has me hooked and I'm enjoying it daily.

Dan would benefit immensely if he selected certain members of SuperBAF to form a real beta committee that could give him invaluable (truthful) feedback on his designs. BAM! No more version 1.1 or version 1.7. Most or if not all of us would be super happy to do this for Dan without pay or a free headphone (well, maybe a coupon for a hamburger). We'd all sign an NDA too. Again, no, we don't hate Dan.

In fact, many products we love have benefited from this. Look no further than the TH-X00s.

I love the comfort of the Ether. I'd like one that sounded amazing for work. I'm hoping this 1.1 gets there. And I would tell everyone at work to get one, though $1500 is going to be out of most people's price range.

Yeah, it's a real untapped market. There is simply no holy grail closed headphone like the HD800, Ethers, HE-X, etc. They all are pretty mediocre in one way or another. If the Ether-C turns out to be that holy grail, I'd buy it in a heart beat.

I heard The Ether C at canjam. They had a preaty big soundstage for a closed back. I thought I was hearing the open Ethers until I took it off and saw the cup. I thought in my head "no wonder it got all quiet."

The Ether headband design and ergonomics are fantastic. By far the best there is, absolutely no contest there.

I just wish I could finally get a good unit from Dan. His products seem to be my equivalent of @purrin's experience with Beyers...

Ether and Ether C both get decent reviews.

Every time I've heard Dan's products they sound better than the ones that have come before. I'm looking forward to what comes next.

And with that, I'm going to install my 1.1 foam this weekend for sure. Seems simple enough.

Tyll's review has me intrigued. As some of you know, I use the Omni and Lyra IEM as my daily drivers (PM-3 occasionally in the office). But while I love the Omni's sound signature, I'm having trouble adjusting to its weight and clamp. The Ether and Ether C first attracted me by their ergonomics and design, but I've read that its sound was somewhat anemic. Does anyone have any experience with the Ether O/C and the Omni (or even some Audeze headphones) that can offer some comparisons? I'm concerned that the Ether may not have enough sub-bass or air for me.

While we're at it, is the Ether C an improvement over the original Ether O? I don't require isolation for my home setup so I don't need closed headphones. I feel like the Omni has a great mix of soundstage and isolation and I don't really want to move DOWN in imaging/soundstage if I change headphones.

This headphone is no joke, for sure. I've been saying it for many weeks. :p
