What are the specs of the computer? I hear differences between software as well as if the data is stored on SSD or HDD on my desktop(only with some software); I heard no differences regardless of anything when using a low-power laptop. Its all dependent on the weakest link in the system.

I can accept a bits are bits argument if your DAC is buffered on the input and not operating realtime without error-correction. Mine are not as I watch a lot of youtube and the lack of lipsync would drive me crazy. The data is the same but timing as well as EMI interference are variables in play. I strongly disagree with those who hear differences based on how many times a file has been copied.

I can't guess why you would notice difference between SSD/HDD. All I know is that my system doesn't suffer from such deficiencies. Hopefully you're aware that the clock is not stored in the audio data file and is attached after the data has been loaded into memory.

We have the case of the more resolving computer.

The best sound I got was entering the bits manually in a file on the destination instead of using any sort of automated coping process. It takes a long time but it's worth it as the you don't get any residual noise from your HDD/SSD. Even better run your music from a floppy disc, it's just like vinyl.

On a more serious note this is snakeoil 101 to me. I decided to try this myself just for fun.
I'm hashing a flac file before and after 1,000,000 copies(automated script). Hashing a file will result in a unique signature that only corresponds to that specific file. The chance to get the same signature with a different input file is about 1 in 9223372036854776000 tries or to put it another way there is a bigger chance of an asteroid hitting the earth in the next second than getting the same match.
After I compared the signature of both files they were....surprise surprise both identical.
Tested myself on Yggdrasil->Stratus/GSX-MK2->HD800/HEK and for the life of me I could not identify a difference...strage how an AK380 would be more resolving.

I know this was a bit over the top but for me it had a point. I am sick and tired of people making outrageous claims and taking advantage of normal users who cannot verify the claims and buy gear based on trust alone(looking at you Gavin with you crappy pulse campaign filled with empty promises).
I wouldn't be surprised if soon there is an 100$ app that improves sound quality of copied files. Might build that myself and retire early.

I'm curious as to how you'd answer these questions: Does the quality of the computer power supply effect the performance of a dedicated sound card(Think Essence STX?) Is a power supply upgrade for an external DAC something you would consider? What advantages would an external DAC which could be equally implemented in PCI-E format have over an internal unit?
