Finally received a first article of a 3D printed snap-in power plug for my Mutec LPS mod. All in all, turned out fairly good - just need to make a few minor tweaks. I'm powering min with a Reflektor-D PS.

my favorite form of transport contrary to popular belief is optical.

Optical has the lowest noise of any transport mediums since it is light and no voltage.

The two problems with it being bandwidth and jitter. Both of which can be solved by a good optical cable. I recommend sysconcepts fiber optical cables. They are cable of playing 24/192 and have very low signal reflection for low jitter.

Isolate and reclock. Gets rid of both noise and jitter on any connection.

there is still power running through the signal though on any transport method but optical

Dunno about comparative noise/jitter, but at least with Gungnir Multibit using the optical input resulted in a slight but still noticeable reduction in low frequency presence as compared to coax & BNC.

AES balanced is also transformer-coupled, for additional isolation.

    ?

Toslink is IMMUNE to ground loop and RFI, it's light, there is no voltage.

I use toslink because it sounds the best to me and theoretically the "quietest form of digital transportation", It's fine if you don't want to use it or think other transportation methods sound better to you, I am just voicing my opinion, Matter of taste can not be scrutinized.

As mentioned it has its problems, bandwidth, jitter, but those can be fixed with a good cable and DAC that reclocks the data stream.

And AES is immune to ground loops because it's transformer isolated.

Wow... that was fast... is there an algorithm based script for banning people? :D

Now seriously... Wasn't the above statement about toslink right?

Is that a record of sorts? Dense, blithe and annoyingly insistent?

Would it be possible to connect an iDevice to Mutec via CCK (Camera Connection Kit)? Has anyone tried that yet?

Yes it is possible to connect Idevice to the mutec, however you need a powered USB hub or Schiit Wyrd in the chain in order for the older cck to work as the mutec draws too much power, the new cck with lightning power input should work fine.

I do happen to have the lightning CCK, so might be able to try it out once I'm able to get the mc-1.2.

Checking in after a couple weeks of use on the MC1.2 and while I was a huge skeptic of this device having much of an impact, I now feel that I could not live without it. It has made such a difference in how my Gungnir Multibit sounds. Clarity, microdynamics, le plankton, width and depth of sound stage all made significant improvements. Yes this sounds fan boy-ish, but it has helped me rediscover my digital collection.

Still don't know if the SPDIF sounds that much better than USB on the Gungnir Multibit or if the Mutec conversion cleans things up, or if I am describing the same thing in both options.

I'd guess that the reason why people are hearing a difference is the USB input is being bypassed. I'm not sure what impact the Mutec is having on the audio, but I know Marv was running his Gungnir Multibit/Black Widow off a CD player, totally skipping any USB audio foolery.

The Gungnir Multibit definitely sounds better using SPDIF, and might sound even better via BNC. I used an ifi Micro iDSD, like Marv used, and that made the Regen/Wyrd less useful. Makes sense, as Baldr designed it that way, and Gungnir Multibit doesn't use the same USB chip as Yggdrasil, The Mutec is probably way better than what I used, too.
