Before playing The XX's "I See You" I am first giving Jamie XX's "In Colour" a spin. According to reviews "I See You" is progression (in sense) of "In Colour."

Before writing an essay about music I shall stop short: "In Colour" is a delight so even if "I See You" is not as legendary (I mean that!) as the first XX album, I am certain "I See You" is wonderfully produced.

A day off and two good albums, that is a seriously good day for me...

I have the album with the shiny silver cover. Good album. Louder production but still some very good songs. Enough dynamic range and no wasted lyric or sound.

"I Dare You" and "Test Me" hit me on an emotional level like the first album did.

I have come to enjoy this one more after some more purposeful listening. Two that have initially stuck out to me were Dangerous and Performance.

No mediocre song on this album if you ask me. This album needs at least a second listen.

Chris Thile & Brad Mehldau perform "Scarlet Town," from their self-titled debut duo album, due January 27, 2017. The song, written by David Rawlings & Gillian Welch, was performed at Bowery Ballroom in NYC in December 2015. Video by Alex Charloff.

I had no idea that Brad Mehldau sings. I mean it's not much but still surprised me.

Keep an eye on Grimes. This is gutsy music that goes beyond the standard formula. I am strangely fascinated by her musical choices...

This is what she calls an unfinished demo.

    This is her latest single.

P.S. That violin transition, f**k that is brilliant...

YES, Venus Fly is my favorite track from Art Angels haha. (definitely the most addicting)

After the album first dropped, for several weeks straight I would listen to that track EVERY time I went to the gym. xD

P.S. Grimes and Janelle Monáe need to collab more often. :)

At first I saw the name King Gizzard and the Wizard Lizard and laughed, but was curious enough to look them up. Quite a prolific low-fi psych rock band out of Australia, and their new album, Flying Microtonal Banana, is released tomorrow. This seven pc band has two drummers and 3 guitarists. A few tracks off their new album.

PS look their vids up on youtube. They are amazingly bad / fantastic

Yeah I am becoming a fan. I often play her songs on repeat. f**k she knows how to write songs, compose songs and make hooks work. Even better, she has the Kate Bush attitude to making music which I deeply admire. That violin transition is like a thunderbolt from a clear sky, brilliant.

I hope I'm not repeating anything here, but the new Dirty Projectors album is out this week.

I still need to swing by the record store to pick up a copy, but I'm super pumped.

Dang, y'all. Thundercat's bassist is just a straight-up frickin' lunatic.

Haha! I was going back through this thread and saw this post. I watched the video and was like, "What the heck?! This isn't quirky or experimental at all - just a Beastie Boys throwback!" Then I listened to some of their other music and see that is not their MO at all. Just a one-off here. Pretty fun song, and yes.. this band is quite quirky and experimental. Their videos are very much in the spirit of OK GO but less extravagant.
