I'm in a bit of a pickle, thought someone here might be able to point me in the right direction. My stock ultrasuede earpads are cracking and flaking and since Audioquest stopped making the Nighthawks, they're out of replacement pads. I'm currently trying out the Brainwavz Microsuedes because I read somewhere they sound very close to the stock ultrasuedes. While it's fine for the low end and the mids, there's a spike in the 10-14k range for me making treble too harsh for my ears as i prefer the treble smooth and slightly rolled off. Has anyone tried any other pads that give the same sound as the stock ultrasuedes? Or am I out of luck?

AudioQuest's Nighthawk cable sounds different because they're bad cables (i.e. out of normal spec for a headphone cable). This goes into it a bit at the end:

You can make a headphone cable that changes the way a headphone sounds, but usually it's not a good thing, it's because you're doing something weird with the resistance or impedance
